WSBK - Haslam confirms, Haga is back! - The pole for Crutchlow

Third round of the World Superbike this weekend in Valence: for the first time this season, the two Superbike rounds have given us two very distinct scenarios while in Supersport, the local of the stage has won.. Reports.

Pole for Crutchlow

On Saturday, for the second time in a row this season, rookie Cal Crutchlow rode the handlebars of his official Yamaha to the Pole Position by covering the 4 km (and 5 meters to be exact) of Ricardo Tormo’s route in 1 ‘33.615 during the final phase. by Superpole.

During the previous phase, Carlos Checa posted a slightly lower time (by 4 thousandths of a second!) But the Spaniard must bow during the last act of the Superpole, with a time of 1 ‘34.840. In the Top 3 for each test outing, the local driver will have to be watched during the race !

Behind the Yam n ° 35 and the private Ducat n ° 7 therefore, rise the two strong men of this start of the season: Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) and Leon Haslam (Suzuki Alstare). So four constructors line up on the first row !

A fifth manufacturer takes the lead in the second row: BMW, thanks to Troy "Mister Pole" Corser. The Australian is ahead of our compatriot Sylvain Guintoli (Suzuki Alstare) who confirms his good adaptation to the World Superbike.

First Honda rider, Northern Irishman Jonathan Rea (Ten Kate) took 7th place just ahead of Lorenzo Lanzi (Ducati DFX Corse), unexpected winner of a round here in Valencia two years ago. Could the fiery Italian surprise again ?

Eliminated at the end of Superpole 2, James Toseland (Yamaha Sterilgarda) is in 9th place on the grid, alongside the two official Ducatis – Michel Fabrizio and Noriyuki Haga in order – decidedly angry with the qualifying sessions this year. Checa’s teammate Shane Byrne closes 3rd row.

Leon Camier, Jakub Smrz, Luca Scassa and Max Neukirchner will start from the 4th row, while the first Kawa ‘, piloted by Tom Sykes, will start from a distant 18th place behind Ruben Xaus and ahead of Andrew Pitt and Sheridan Morais.

In Supersport, after dominating the Kawasaki during the first practice sessions, it was finally Eugene Laverty who signed his second consecutive pole at the controls of his Honda Parkalgar with a new track record: 1 ’35, 658.

The young Irishman is ahead of the local Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Motoard.com) and his n ° 1 – n ° 54 enemy – in the championship the Turkish Kenan Sofuoglu (Honda Ten Kate). Katsuaki Fujiwara and his Ninja close the front row.

The second line is led by two Triumphs: those of David Salom and Chaz Davies. The two Daytonas prepared by the Parkingo BE1 Team are positioned in front of our first representative Fabien Foret (Kawasaki Lorenzini) and the Italian Michele Pirro (Honda Ten Kate).

We have to wait for the fourth row to see the name of our second driver registered in Supersport: Matthieu Lagrive, replacing Sebastien Charpentier since the previous round in Portugal.
