According to the Italian daily La Gazetta dello Sport, Honda would be ready to offer a handlebar for 2009 in the World Superbike to Michael Schumacher, the seven-time German Formula 1 world champion who is now retired.

"Michael did not ask us to race in the World Superbike, but if he wishes there is room for him: he only has to ask !", has just indicated the boss of the competition at Honda Europe, Carlo Fiorani, to our Italian colleagues of The Gazetta dello Sport.

After the last round of the 2009 WSBK in Portimao (read), 39-year-old Michael Schumacher tested on the handlebars of a Ducati. In March, he also competed in a German Superbike round with Honda and finished in fourth place.

The Red Baron, who had already tried a Ducati MotoGP at the end of 2006, also distinguished himself by trying the Honda Ten kate on the Magny-Cours circuit (read).

The German also has to his credit the second best time of the KTM Trophy on the Italian circuit of Misano riding a KTM 990 Super Duke, but he always ensured that it was a passion and than he was considering "no second career in motorcycles"… To be continued !
