MV Agusta and the Yakhnich team get on Superbike !
After a noticeable return to World Supersport last year, MV Agusta reinvests World Superbike in 2014! The Italians will collaborate in both categories with the Yakhnich Motorsport team which led Lowes and his R6 to the world title. Trailer.
Some aficionados have been waiting for this news for … and others for much longer: "more than 37 years after its last victory in the motorcycle Grand Prix, MV Agusta makes its official comeback in the premier category of a world sprint championship".
The famous Italian motorcycle brand will indeed enter an F4RR – for starters – in World Superbike 2014, the Varese racing department relying on the Russian structure Yakhnich Motorsport to develop the bike, "with the aim of becoming a leading protagonist in 2015".
The little sister F3 675 will play her second season in World Supersport. Last year, the "Tre Pistoni" had an encouraging first season in the company of led by Giuliano Rovelli, its drivers taking two podiums: the first to and the second to .
In 2014, MV Agusta wants to do even better and "play a key role in the category", just like Kawasaki, Yamaha or Honda. And it is for this reason that the Italians poached the best Supersport 2013 team….
By winning the title "pilot" with Sam Lowes in his second season at the highest level, the Yakhnich team saw its rating seriously increase … and its plans totally turned upside down! The Russians were indeed to field Yamaha two more years in Supersport then in Superbike (read), but it will not be so !
This change of course is intended to be lasting, however: "with this agreement, MV Agusta and Yakhnich Motorsport start a long-term cooperation which aims to develop important commercial, industrial and communication synergies in Russian territories".
In addition, the work carried out on the motorcycles (F3 and F4) should lead to "the making of "Replica" motorcycles for satellite teams who would like to compete with the glorious Italian brand", foresees the new team called" MV Agusta Reparto Corse – Yakhnich Motorsport ".
"This official return to competition is an ambitious and very important step for us", emphasizes Giovanni Castiglioni, president of MV Agusta."Competition has always been my father’s greatest passion", recalls Claudio’s son, .
"He led his marks to victory in many disciplines, from the 500cc Grand Prix and Paris-Dakar with the legendary Cagiva to the first world titles won with Ducati in Superbike, as well as in off-road with Husqvarna".
"But his real dream was to see MV resume competition"Says the young, handsome and big boss of MV Agusta."I’m proud to be able to attend", concludes Giovanni, whose emotion is certainly not faked.
Alexander Yakhnich is a bit more down to earth: "we worked very hard to achieve great results in 2013", recalls the president of Yakhnich Motosports, delighted to see that"new and important opportunities are opening up for us with MV Agusta".
"We are very happy with this deal and look forward to bagging a number of wins very soon.", ignites the Russian. The names of the three pilots remain unknown to this day, but Site is investigating MV Agusta: stay tuned !
