Chaz Davies, 1st
“Winning four races in a row is just unreal. I’ve been riding full of confidence lately and I’m able to attack 100% every lap, I just have to dance on the bike. I got my best start of the year and got into the first corner behind Sykes. I think he was trying to save his tires so I took advantage of it knowing we could keep our pace the whole race. The key today was the grip management. I was careful at the beginning, because the warmer conditions made the track more slippery, but in the end I could see that the gap was increasing, and I only had ‘to finish the race. We don’t want to be overconfident, but we will still try to win six races in a row to get the second position in the championship ".
Jonathan Rea, 2nd
"I’m happy with the gap in the championship. We can go to Qatar in a relaxed atmosphere and aim for our target there. So far we’ve had nine wins and we’ve done a really good job. I’ve struggled. with the front and rear grip today. Jerez is a track with poor grip. As soon as the grip went away I started to really struggle, but not like yesterday. We changed a lot of things on the bike for this Sunday, including the character of the engine. I had confidence in my team, it was the right direction to take and I think we took a step forward. The temperature was a bit high today ‘hui, so it was a whole different race, slower at the end ".
Tom Sykes, 3rd
“Third place is all we could handle today, that’s how it is. It was a good race and a good fight over time, but I finished third today. I was very close to Jonathan at the end, but just not enough. I could have blocked the front so easily in some spots, but we got through and got on the podium. We’re going to turn the page and try to be stronger. We have a 48 point deficit and we need to find a better setting in Qatar to allow me to be aggressive from start to finish. I feel like I am not in a position to do what I need to do now. don’t want to lose second place in the championship. We have an important test tomorrow and we’ll use it in the best possible way. ".
Nicky Hayden, 4th
“This race was not easy, especially at the start because the guys in front were just too fast for me. Chaz took the lead faster today and during the first laps, with the new tires, I couldn’t run at their pace. On worn tires my bike was going really well so I was able to get back up and close the gap. But it was a bit too late. On the last lap I was not close enough to attempt to place a wheel ".
“The team did a great job this weekend as the bike was doing really well here. I’m just a little frustrated that I wasn’t able to go faster at the start and go with them (Davies, Rea and Sykes Also, at the end of the race if you want a podium you have to be able to attack and shake things up, but I couldn’t today. Two fourth places is not the end of the world, but a pair of podiums would certainly have been nicer ".
Sylvain Guintoli, 5th
"It was an interesting day because we tried a completely different setup from this morning: it didn’t work well, but at least we knew what not to do! We changed direction for the second race, which was an improvement compared to yesterday and allowed us to start a little faster. The pace during the second half of the race was also very good, I was catching up with the leading group. Unfortunately, I lacked grip before towards the end because I was attacking very hard, and I almost fell several times. The overall result is positive because we finished closer than yesterday. The pace was good and, more than anything, I took I was enjoying driving the R1 today. I felt really at the limit with the machine and getting back to that pace is very important to me. So it was a good day for us! "
Michael van den Mark, 6th
“I am quite disappointed with this day honestly. This morning we tried something on the bike, which I was sure could have helped us during the race. But it did not happen during the warm-up. up. I had a great start but unfortunately had a small electronic problem which cost me a lot of places. My race pace was not amazing, but not too bad either and in the end I turned almost as fast as the guys on the podium. I could even see them in the distance. I’m clearly not happy because I know I could have been a lot closer to the podium. Now we need to know what happened , and prepare for the last test ".
Alex Lowes, 7th
“I’m very disappointed with the race in the end, because I think the YZF-R1 had a really good pace, especially when the temperatures rose. I think we had a good chance, not necessarily getting on the podium, but to be much closer to the outposts. I felt pretty good and got off to a good start. You never know how the first corners will go but during the first three or four laps I felt very well. Then I had a little problem that was preventing me from changing gears properly. I lost some of my focus and struggled to shift gears, but rather than pulling back, I chose to ride as well as possible given the situation. The team worked well all weekend. My mistake yesterday in the first run is a shame. Like I said, I think the R1 really had a good pace and that it had probably never been more competitive in the whole year. 8th certainly, but I still feel really disappointed ".
Jordi Torres, 8th
“We changed the front tire for today’s race, hoping to gain endurance, but we still experienced a drop in performance. We however produced more consistent lap times compared to yesterday, but the The result was very similar to the end. Despite the result, I can be satisfied that I gave my all. I was more aggressive and I didn’t make a mistake. Tomorrow we will get the most out of the session. ‘trials, use it to try to find good solutions ".
