Jonathan Rea continued his perfect start to the 2016 season by winning this Saturday on the Buriram circuit … and over his teammate Tom Sykes, who was nevertheless impressive until the end of the race. Van den Mark climbs to his third consecutive podium.

First Superbike race Buriram 2016

Installed in pole position, the Honda n ° 60 reared up when the red lights went out … The official Kawasaki easily passed, followed by the two official Ducatis as well. Behind the poleman are his teammate Nicky Hayden, Alex Lowes, Markus Reiterberger, Karel Abraham and Roman Ramos.

Sylvain Guintoli misses the first corner! Yamaha n ° 50 bites off the track and ends up in the beautiful lousy middle of the pack. Davide Giugliano in turn widens in turn 7 and loses two places against Chaz Davies and Michael van den Mark.

In front, Jonathan Rea finished the first lap in front of his first rival: his teammate Tom Sykes! Davies is already a good second behind the "Number One" of the discipline. Honda # 60 sticks to the rear wheel of Ducati # 7, followed closely by the other Ducati # 34.

As Hayden tries to cling to the chase group, his fellow VDM climbs the podium, passing Davies. Guintoli struggled back to the background, overtaking Abraham’s BMW Milwaukee then Reiterberger’s BMW Althea. Sylvain Barrier is in point (s), in 15th position.

Rea misses the last corner of the 2nd lap and cedes the lead to Sykes. "Major Tom" immediately tries to widen the gap on his enemy No. 1 and detonates the leading group. Only "Magic Michael" manages to stay in touch. The guy even gets closer to Rea in the 4th lap !

In the aspiration of his former colleague Honda – whom he replaces in the Ten Kate team in the Superbike category – van den Mark stumbles on "the ruthless JR" and ends up making a mistake. Michael barely escapes a highside braking on the 8th corner…

Still on its wheels and on the track, VDM lost contact with the two Ninja in the lead and found itself equidistant from the Kawasaki n ° 1 and the Ducati n ° 7. Alex Lowes, Davide Giugliano, Nicky Hayden, Sylvain Guintoli and Markus Reiterberger make up the chase group, five seconds behind Sykes.

First Aprilia rider on the track, Alex de Angelis completed the Top 10 in the race. Our two-time Superstock 1000 champion, Sylvain Barrier, defends dearly the fifteenth place he occupies at the controls of his ZX-10R. The n ° 20 is one second behind Ramos, and half a second ahead of Baiocco.

With 12 more laps to go, Hayden and Lowes simultaneously came off the track at the 3rd corner and were therefore easily picked up by Reiterberger. The rookie – but reigning German Superbike champion, "bitte schon" – did not ask for so much !

Halfway approaching and Sykes couldn’t get rid of Rea. In the 9th lap, the n ° 1 even got closer to the n ° 66 … For the n ° 69 on the other hand, the race stopped on the 10th lap: the "Kentucky Kid" had to retire because of a technical problem. on his Fireblade.

On the track, attention turns to the two official Ducatis who exchange their fourth and fifth places by playing fairings! Davies manages to keep the advantage but his Italian teammate looks a little faster. Just behind them, our "Guinters" just observed. For the moment ?!

Up front, Jonathan Rea keeps Tom Sykes under pressure and doesn’t have to worry about Michael van den Mark who is almost three seconds behind. "Johnny" seems to be doing his scales, focusing only on "Major Tom" behind whom he gravitates…

Like VDM a few laps earlier, Rea almost goes into orbit when braking the 3rd corner. But the world champion clings to his handlebars and manages not to exceed the vibrator when exiting a curve. He thus only loses a handful of tenths of a second on his target n ° 66…

Behind, Guintoli is in seventh place. The n ° 50 Yamaha found himself behind Reiterberger and was threatened by his teammate at n ° 22, Alex Lowes … The other Sylvain, Barrier, also fell two places and is in 17th place in this first Thai race.

Jonathan Rea sets the fastest lap in the race with 7 laps from the end! In the following lap, Rea lodged in his teammate’s wheel as the first laggards approached … The northern Irishman pretended to attack his English teammate in the twisty but took the lead in the last corner.

The 2015 champion embarks on a cannon tour. The 2013 champion tries to hang on. In the background, the two Ducatis almost fall to the ground: braking on the corner, Giugliano brushed against Davies’ rear wheel, raised his motorcycle and momentarily left the track…

While Jonathan Rea slowly but irresistibly moves away from Tom Sykes, Michael van den Mark continues his solo race towards a third podium in as many races! Chaz Davies can finally breathe. when Davide Giugliano unfortunately loses the front in the twelfth and last corner…

Reiterberger thus integrates the Top 5 in the last lap. But the eyes of the spectators are riveted on the leading men: the gap between the two Ninja is limited to a few lengths only at the end of the course but Sykes cannot launch any attack and must accompany his teammate under the checkered flag..

Michael van den Mark celebrated his third place with a nice rear wheel on the home stretch. The n ° 60 Honda is imitated a few seconds later by Markus Reiterberger, very happy to reach the world Top 5 on the handlebars of his BMW n ° 21.

Beaten by his teammate Alex Lowes, Sylvain Guintoli finished in seventh place. Sylvain Barrier him, fails at the gate of points in 16th position. Next distribution of points precisely, in 24 hours! Second Superbike race (and Supersport race) to follow on the Site: stay tuned !
