BMW R 18 conversion
The RockBob from Wunderlich

BMW accessories specialist Wunderlich builds its own custom bike based on the BMW R18. The bobber with a short tail and wide tire is called the RockBob.

Whenever BMW brings a completely new model onto the market, BMW accessories specialist Wunderlich is quick to come up with their own thoughts, which sometimes lead to their own concept bike and finally to a wide range of conversion parts from Wunderlich. For the BMW R18 Classic, the men from Grafschaft-Ringen took this route with the RockBob baptized conversion, which differs significantly from other conversions of the big boxer.

New tail of the RockBob

Involuntarily, the first glance at Wunderlich’s RockBob sticks to the new rear section: The cognac-colored swing saddle only crowns the rest of the conversion of the strong-hip series rear of the R18 and can be adjusted with longer springs. Wunderlich take the bob for bobber in their name very seriously. A vibrating minimal fender spans a rear tire that has grown to a width of 200 millimeters. The soles of a spoked rim with now six inches span between the rim horns. The obligatory license plate holder moves to the left of the swing arm, while the 3-in-1 combination lights are concealed at the upper ends of the fender struts.

Light make-up

Wunderlich allows the front of the R18 Classic to exist in the basics, only some superfluous components are omitted. The additional headlights next to the large main headlight have to give way and take the two indicators mounted below with them. These can now be found in the form of handlebar end indicators from Motogadget on a flatter handlebar on new risers. Side note: The sewn handles are covered with the same leather as the saddle. The diet at the front is rounded off by a new aluminum spring above the standard bike.

any color

The main thing is black. Wunderlich leaves the color accents in the leather work. The rest of the R18 Classic is painted and coated in various shades of black, with matt and glossy black alternating to give the style. The entire exhaust system is original and coated with black ceramic. The new aluminum fenders at the front and rear are painted in matt black, while the tank is in matt black and decorated with shiny pinestripes. The standard engine is completely black.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.

Conclusion

The new BMW R18 has already inspired many customizers. Now BMW accessories specialist Wunderlich is also showing what he can think of to redesign the Bayern Cruiser.
