Yamaha heads to Istanbul, Turkey, to collaborate with a new member of the Yard Built family, Bunker Custom Motorcycles. The Can brothers and Mert Uzer are not custom bike preparers like the others. Can is an outstanding skater, a member of the Vans Turkey skateboard team, while Mert took to building motorcycles full time after a career in digital advertising..

The duo caught the attention and aroused the interest of Yamaha Motor Europe with this very personal reinterpretation of the 1982 Yam SR 500. This very clean classic Yamaha custom stood out for its craftsmanship and rawness, but above all for its excellent quality. ability to drive. This is how the collaboration with Yard Built was born. In recent months, the two brothers have worked hard to add the Bunker Custom touch to the YamahaXSR 700 to end up with a rugged Tracker-style machine that looks set to hit the beach, the roads of mountain and more.

“I am very impressed with the work Can and Mert have done on this machine,” comments Cristian Barelli, Marketing Coordinator at Yamaha Motor Europe. “For me, what is very important is that they have retained the characteristics of agility and power that are unique to the XSR 700, while adding their distinctive paw to show the XSR 700 in a whole new light.”.

“We opted for the Tracker style because we really wanted to capture the spirit of freedom of this machine as much as possible,” confirm the Uzer brothers. “The twin-cylinder engine is the ideal base, with its characteristic powertrain, and the bike makes you want to create something light, agile and free”.

To create their interpretation of Tracker style for this Sport Heritage machine, Bunker Customs raised the saddle and cleared more room up front to give the rider more freedom of movement. They also sought to increase ground clearance. To do this, they moved the exhaust and replaced the original front wheel with a 19-inch all-terrain wheel..

To give the bike the special Bunker look, all body panels have been replaced with hand-struck 2mm thick aluminum parts, including the fuel tank covers, side panels, guards. front and rear mud, radiator covers and seat plate. A CNC-milled aluminum structure supporting the fuel tank covers has also been sanded and polished to create a stunning top view. The Renthal handlebars offer sufficient rise in line with the new riding position and the saddle has been raised by 6 cm to harmonize everything. This was done using a bolt-on extension that could be mounted on any standard XSR 700 frame. The suede saddle adds a touch of elegance, which retains its original locking mechanism.

To ensure comfort and convenience while maintaining its aesthetics on rough roads, the machine has swapped out the classic fork for an upside-down MT-09 Tracer fork. The standard rims have also been replaced by magnificent Super Tenere type spoke wheels, fitted with Goldentyre GT201 tires, 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear..

A 5.5-inch halogen headlight available from aftermarket was mounted on a custom bracket, complementing the custom front fenders, both made from an 8mm steel tube..

To emphasize the off-road and practical side of the machine, the overall ground clearance has been raised from 14cm to 20cm, and the muffler and exhaust manifold have been repositioned. The handcrafted stainless steel exhaust system incorporates an Akrapovi catalytic converter? where the silencer and the 2-on-1 meet.

Bunker Customs scattered several genuine Yamaha accessories on the machine, including the clutch and billet brake levers, footrests, and sidestand uprights. Finally, the icing on the cake, the bike benefits from a simple and discreet graphic style, but very beautiful, inspired by the 1980s..
