Driven out of the big sports category by its turbulent R1 sister, the Thunderace is now expressed in a niche more suited to its claims. First, the comfort, surprisingly good: the suspensions are efficient and enhance the chassis while respecting the backs of the occupants. The sports car of yesterday is close to a sport-GT of today. The driving position is far from radical, facilitating the grip, allowing to savor its qualities on all types of road. Less agile than the guns in force, it is easier to tame, benefits from flawless handling (even on uneven surfaces) and an engine packed with torque. Very full in the low and mid-range, it offers fabulous pick-up and top-level performance. Too bad the box, very well staged, is not a more pleasant operation. Much less demanding than the R1, its range is also wider; the weight will handicap her somewhat on the circuit, especially compared to her sister. We regret insufficient protection, but we must not forget that the Thunderace is basically a sports car. Its conversion into tourism is not a choice but the result of the evolution of the species.
