Yamaha YZF-R3 model year 2019
Updates for the young athlete
Yamaha is launching a significantly tightened YZF-R3 for the 2019 model year. The small super sports car is optically closer to the R1 and receives numerous technical updates.
The most noticeable feature of the new Yamaha YZF-R3 is their styling, which is based heavily on the lines of the current YZR-M1. The new combination of fairing and windshield is intended to reduce air resistance by seven percent and reduce air turbulence around the driver’s helmet. In addition, the top speed should increase by up to 8 km / h. The central air inlet in the fairing is flanked by a double LED headlight and position lights.
Cockpit with extended functions
A redesigned tank, which still has a volume of 14 liters, and lower positioned steering stubs are designed to make the ergonomics even sportier. Behind the new fairing, a new, multifunctional LCD cockpit with easy-to-read displays awaits the pilot. The gear engaged, fuel level, current and average consumption, cooling water temperature, time of day and inspection intervals are all displayed.
Yamaha
The R3 now relies on a 37 mm upside-down fork.
The chassis was also refilled. A completely new 37 mm KYB upside-down telescopic fork is in the new aluminum triple clamps. The monocross rear suspension with the adjustable KYB strut has also been revised. The 321 cm³ in-line two-cylinder four-valve engine with liquid cooling and two overhead camshafts remained unchanged in the hardware, but has been retuned and is now supposed to offer improved performance and even lower consumption (3.8 liters / 100 km). It remains at 42 hp and 29.6 Nm.
From January in black and blue
The new, fully fueled, 169 kilogram Yamaha YZF-R3 will be available from January 2019 in the colors Yamaha Blue and Power Black. Prices have not yet been announced.
