The Yard Built platform is the subject of a new collaboration with an exceptional customization of the Yamaha XV 950. The young and talented Swiss manufacturer GS Mashin embarks on the adventure to create a very original interpretation of this bike in the category Heritage Sports. The result: a total transformation under the name of Yard Built XV950 “Ultra” which brings a new vision and a new look to the Yard Built range..
With its radically different look from the base XV 950 motorcycle, this machine is a real customization that respects the Yard Built principles, that is to say without cutting or welding the frame during the realization of the concept. Tom Mosimann took inspiration from Gothic architecture to create a lowered sports machine fitted with large, narrow wheels and clip-on elements in a range of bright colors.
“I really like the customization of the XV done by Tom,” said Shun Miyazawa, Product Manager at Yamaha Motor Europe. “I am delighted that his truly radical-looking motorcycle respects one of our key principles, which is that any custom machine must retain its most important function: that of a vehicle. He has preserved the soul of theXV 950. and give it a totally original look without cutting or welding the frame. Also very impressive, he only used a few tools to do 95% of his job: an angle grinder, a sandbag and a hammer ! “
The Yard Built XV 950 “ULTRA” fairing is handcrafted from 1.5mm sheet steel and fasteners cut from stainless steel tubing. A small Bates spotlight as well as two Highsider indicators are integrated into the fairing. The custom fuel tank is also handcrafted from 1.5mm sheet steel. Its upper edge was produced using a deburring press. The lower part was cut from the fuel tank of the original XV 950. One of the most exceptional elements of this creation is undoubtedly K-Tech’s prototype rear suspensions, inspired by their flagship Bullit suspensions..
The handmade steel rear wraps around Shin Yo signature rear lighting. The leather saddle was also handcrafted by Jose Rey Saddlery. The splendid aluminum upper triple clamp has been machined by Asic Robotics and features a clean style with no holes for the risers. The wheels are a true work of art: the original hubs have been reused and 18 inch rear rims and 21 inch front rims have been added as well as new poles and ABS !
The end result is in line with the completely original designs of the Yard Built range, placing GS Mashin on the top of the podium in terms of customization..
