A bagger was not enough at Yamaha … So, in 2014, the 1900 CFD was entitled to a little brother. Small ? Not really. The last comer cube all the same 1304 cm3, its fork crown is as wide as an avenue and its “Streamliner” silhouette does not go unnoticed..

Its base is none other than the XVS 1300 Midnight Star, to which we add the elements already mentioned as well as a pair of rigid body-colored bags.. What to afford a greater share of cruising without shattering the wallet. In comparison to the 1900 CFD, the 1300 gains a more pleasant protection with its windshield of good height, loses about fifteen horsepower and 5 mkg. Its cost, on the other hand, is under 13,000 euros, or 5,000 euros less. There is food for thought.

Let’s come back to the mechanics of this 1300 – Its twin is a water-cooled 4 valves per cylinder, equipped with injection and variable ignition. The forged pistons stir in cylinders with super-square ribs. A mill delivering its 73 horsepower muscle at 5,500 rpm, supported by almost 11 mkg of torque at 4,000 rpm.
As with the 1900, Yam held filtered vibrations and used the same type of double balance wheel as on the big Midnight Star. Each balance is placed on either side of the crankshaft, a guarantee of compactness. The engine of the XVS 1300 is also equipped with rockers on bearings to control its valves..

Double cradle frame using the engine as a stiffening element, shock absorber hidden under the frame, triple brake disc 298 mm in diameter … There is no lack of technical argumentation. In 2011, Yam introduced its U.B.S (Unified Brake System) brake system on the 1300 Midnight Star (as well as the 1900). This system improves braking by a simultaneous force on both wheels, front and rear, when the driver applies the rear brake.
