The third round of the World SSP 2017 took place this weekend in Aragon, Spain. To complete our almost live report, here are the statements of the Supersport drivers at the end of the Spanish race… brilliantly won by the French Lucas Mahias !
Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than the others – have already been able to see the Mondial Supersport race unfold on Sunday, almost live, on the Aragon circuit (for latecomers, read ).
Below are the declarations of the pilots who distinguished themselves on Sunday: honor to the winner … French !
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha n ° 144), 1st
"The last lap was completely crazy, but not only this lap, the whole race! I had a lot of fights, it was very difficult! A few drivers were fighting for first place, but I chose a good strategy in the start: just follow the other riders because it was very windy, it was difficult to have a good pace for the race. I’m very happy because Sheridan was able to go faster in the straight line, but I knew that I was fast in the twisty where he was not so confident. The result is really good for me and for Yamaha. So many thanks to my team for their hard work this weekend. At the beginning I did was not so confident but we really did it ".
Sheridan Morais (Yamaha n ° 32), 2nd
“It was a great race and I’m happy to give my team another podium after Niki’s superb podium in Thailand. I look forward to the next races where we know we can fight for the win. race went pretty well. I tried to put my head in the handlebars and attack to open up a gap, but it’s really hard to do in this category. In the end, we were very close to victory, I’m happy with this second place and I would like to thank my team for that ".
Patrick Jacobsen (MV Agusta n ° 99), 3rd
"I’m pretty happy with the result today, because a twitching problem (the famous" chattering ", Editor’s note) prevented me from fighting for first place. It’s a real pleasure to get on the first podium with MV Agusta Reparto Corse this season, because they are working so hard: we all deserve this result. Thanks to my team for the work we have done today. We expect an even better result in Assen ".
Jules Cluzel (Honda n ° 16), 4th
“I think we couldn’t have done better this weekend. To start from 14th place on the grid and finish 4th is good. I struggled with the rear grip and tried to find a solution. , I just tried to finish the race without making any mistakes. We had very strong points like braking. If we work well on the rear grip then we will become very good. I am confident and we have to win races for collect points. That will be the goal of the next race ".
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), fall
"I was in the race today, but I had a gear shift problem and I fell. I had climbed from 13th to 2nd, it was great: I felt good and my R6 was working very good. I fell on turn 3 and unfortunately broke my left collarbone. However, I will be back and ready for Assen ".
Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki n ° 1), fall
“It’s been a long time since I got on the bike and right now in the race I cannot say that I’m confident enough to widen the gap on everyone. I decided to follow a few. riders, but when I saw they all thought they were on the last lap, the last corner – even at the start of the race – I let four or five people take the lead. It was a long race, So I was saving my tire and riding well. Then even slower riders started attacking me, so I got a bit closer to the lead group. But one of the riders made a mistake and I Excluded from the race. To finish like this hurts because we didn’t deserve it. I’m sad for my team, but I rode a lot this weekend and I regained some confidence. My thumb is not a problem . My back hurts, it still hurts now, but I haven’t broken anything ".
