WSBK Assen: Davies persists and signs … a charge against Rea
Convinced that Jonathan Rea deliberately slowed him down at the end of Superpole 2 in Assen, Chaz Davies has just issued a long press release. Ducati n ° 7 looks back on – his version of – the incident, on his rant and on the reaction of n ° 1 Kawasaki… Selected pieces.
If for the moment, the, for their part, the two very strong men of the World Superbike have come close to the beating! At the end of the in the Netherlands, Chaz Davies and Jonathan Rea engaged in a muscular verbal jousting, under the cameras of the promoter Dorna (in order to fuel the "noise"!).
"I had to give up the gas, you fucked me …", the Ducati rider got carried away in the parc ferme. "You were on my path. I had to straighten the bike because you stayed on the third quarter of the track. If I hadn’t, I would have hit you inside, asshole!"
In an article published last night on his Facebook page, "Chazie" comes back to his head rested on the incident and first of all apologizes for his language: "I know that we are models for young children and this n was not an example to follow ".
But if the "Welsh Dragon" regrets having ignited a little too much, he persists and signs a well-argued charge against the "Green Giant": type of rubber used, comparisons of times, behavioral analysis, breakdown of trajectories, video review. .. Everything is scrutinized !
For Davies, there is no doubt: the "n ° 65" (n ° 1 in fact!) Considerably reduced the pace on his very last lap – the one that led him to the pits – in order to hamper the n ° 7 who , he continued to attack after a first qualifying round, perfectible.
For his part – from the ring! -, the Kawasaki rider did not understand what was reproached to him: "I knew that someone was coming, I strayed from the rope and I placed myself outside the track", defended the double champion of the Superbike world at the end of SP2.
After watching the videos with the race director, the "Number One" however admitted that he was indeed on the path of "Chazie" and accepted his penalty (), but still denies the fact of having voluntarily extended a trap his best enemy…
"Mistakes can happen, I myself have chosen drivers and I have always recognized my faults," says Davies at the end of his press release. "However, the facts being what they are, I am absolutely certain that this case is not based on coincidences", he insists..
According to Davies – and a good number of messages other pilots would have sent him on Saturday -, "if No.65 sees you as a threat, he won’t hesitate to play bad tricks on you" … qualification? "Johnny" did not drag himself however the image of a "Bad Boy" until now…
“At n ° 65: you’re a rider good enough not to play that, so let’s stop the bullshit and resume the show that entertains Superbike fans, mano a mano”, suggests “Chazie”. "I enjoy the battles and the intense rivalry, I highly respect your faculties and your results, but I firmly believe that on this one you just went too far. Back to the good and tough fight in the race, to Imola "…
For the record, "Daviesiozo" had two resounding victories last year on the Italian circuit. He will race next week after another double and no doubt hopes that his teammate Marco Melandri – and even his colleague Xavi Fores (at Ducati Barni) – will also manage to get ahead of the official Kawasaki: Chaz Davies is currently third in the provisional classification, 20 points behind Tom Sykes … and 84 behind Rea. What to see red, no ?
