Guintoli on the MotoGP Suzuki for the French GP at Le Mans !
As we anticipated last week, Sylvain Guintoli will replace official Suzuki rider Alex Rins in MotoGP on the GSX-RR, from the French Grand Prix at Le Mans and on the following races. !
French driver Sylvain Guintoli was selected to drive the official Suzuki at the French GP and subsequent races, until Alex Rins fully recovered from his injuries..
- MNC of April 27, 2017 :
Japanese test rider Takuya Tsuda will take over the interim this weekend, but Sylvain will be on hand to take part in Tuesday’s tests and begin his adaptation to the GSX-RR !
“The choice of Sylvain Guintoli to replace injured Alex Rins was a natural fit for the team,” explains Suzuki: “not only was he World Superbike champion in 2014, but he also has MotoGP experience and he has already been Suzuki rider. He currently races in British Superbike (BSB) with the Bennetts Suzuki team on the GSX-R1000R and is currently in 12th position with 15 points, and his participation in MotoGP races does not infringe on the BSB calendar ".
"A very difficult challenge"
"First of all, I would like to thank Suzuki for giving me this fantastic opportunity", rejoices the native of Montelimar (26). "Driving the GSX-RR is a very exciting prospect, especially for my national race in front of the French fans!"
"The French GP at Le Mans evokes many memories, the best of them obviously being to have (above in front of Randy de Puniet, Editor’s note!) During a few laps in 2007!"
- MNC of May 21, 2007 :
Ten years later, "it will be a very difficult challenge," admits Sylvain who will have to adapt to the power of the MotoGP prototype and Michelin tires, "but my main objective is to have fun and to give myself 100% to Suzuki Ecstar team. Tuesday’s test will give us some adjustment time to begin to understand this incredible bike. And finally, I wish Alex a speedy recovery. ".
Le Journal moto du Net is investigating Sylvain to find out more about his 2017 objectives: stay connected !
