Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki n ° 1), 1st
"I’m really happy. Of course, it’s hard to get super euphoric, to start celebrating – although it’s worth celebrating being the most successful rider in WorldSBK history – but we have another race to go tomorrow. I feel really lucky to have this opportunity, to ride a great bike and to be here every weekend. Winning the 60th race that way, dominating, was really good . There were times when I was able to stall on my pit-board, which was also nice. It was an intense effort for the team, especially coming here for the tests, between Assen and Imola, because the The schedule was very tight. This made the day yesterday (Friday, test day, editor’s note) less stressful because the conditions were not good for anyone. We weren’t too worried because we had spent two whole days in Brno, we had evaluated all the configurations. We started from there ".
On his record for WSBK wins: 60, compared to 59 for Fogarty…
"It was when I crossed the finish line today that I started to realize that I had got those 60 wins. I hadn’t thought about it during the race. It’s super cool and I can’t believe it, honestly. We’ve come a long way and I’m really proud of all of these victories, and they’re all special in their own way. A big thank you to everyone who helped me – and everything especially to the Kawasaki Racing Team for giving me this opportunity. The bike is great and I love to ride it. It’s good to win the 60th race where I won my first WorldSSP race. also called my dog Brno! It’s a very special place and name to me. It’s a real racetrack and one of the wins I’m most proud of was here, against Max Biaggi. It’s the perfect track for Biaggi, a real fluid track where you launch at full speed in the turns. Subtle differences on this track create big gaps s: release the brake, the way to cut the throttle, you have to try to be more fluid. Carl Fogarty is a legend and he remains the GOAT ("Greastest Of All Time") until we hopefully win this fourth title. That’s my big goal, to try to win four championships. That’s what Carl did and he’s the best. But to be the most successful driver now is something I’m really proud of ".
Marco Melandri (Ducati n ° 33), 2nd
"After a difficult event (at Dnington Park where the Panigales stayed behind all weekend, Editor’s note), we managed to be competitive again. It’s always nice to be on the podium, but the conditions of track were really difficult today. We lacked grip and the bike was understeering. At the first start we were just behind Rea who made a few mistakes but on the restart I knew it would be more difficult because the temperatures had risen further. We can however be happy because we handled a difficult situation very well. We have solved most of our problems, although we still need to improve. Tomorrow it will be crucial to start well from the third row and to be quick early. In these conditions, we can expect anything ".
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki n ° 66), 3rd
“The interruptions and starts (three in all, Editor’s note!) Were not ideal today and we had to be careful not to burn out the clutch. The starting procedure was a bit messy, but we ended up with set off in good conditions and we made the most of our situation. I tried to start with Jonathan at first but couldn’t keep up on the turns. The front was understeer and in these hot conditions it seemed like everyone was struggling. I couldn’t lean on my front end in turns 1 and 4, and had a lot of warnings during this race. But we were able to We rely on the Showa suspension and we got a third place. It’s not a perfect scenario but it’s way better than other guys. So we have to be happy. ".
Michael van der Mark (Yamaha n ° 60), 4th
"We had a good Superpole, I was happy with my lap and my qualifying tire: sixth place was not a bad place to start. After the first start, I was heading for the outposts, but we had a red flag. It was lucky because we had some problems with the rear. For the second start I changed a few things on the bike and I felt pretty strong. I was going back up, but then a few laps I started to struggle with my front end and it only got worse. I managed to close the gap on Alex and pass him, thus finishing fourth. However, it is certain that we have to sort out the issues ahead to be able to fight for the podium tomorrow ".
Alex Lowes (Yamaha No.22), 5th
“At the end of the day, I’m disappointed with fifth place because I felt like I had a better pace this weekend. In the race, the temperature on the track rose and I think everyone was surprised: the lap times were quite slow. I did the best I could and we gathered a lot of information. I am disappointed so far, but I will try to improve for tomorrow! "
Eugene Laverty (Aprilia n ° 50), 6th
"Today is a good surprise for us after difficult free practice yesterday. This morning we were strong and qualifying went very well. In Superpole, I was getting better and better, and fifth place was a good one. The result. The interruption of the race with a red flag helped us as I was having trouble with a full tank. The settings were not quite good at first, but after some good modifications on the front of the bike, I was able to attack a lot more. Tomorrow we hope for an even better result, we know what we need with the fuel tank now, and the start from third place gives us a good chance to score some big points in the second run. ".
Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia n ° 32), 7th
"The day didn’t go so badly. I had a little problem at the start with the clutch, and it was really hard to start a third time. I lost a few places there and I had to attacking to create a gap, but the bike had a pretty good pace. I struggled with the front end for part of the race as I chose a different tire from most of the other riders so this is a point that we can work on tomorrow. I enjoyed fighting Davies for a few laps, and was able to pass him towards the end for seventh, which gives us even more points. I want to find more feel on the front for the second race and attack a lot more. The bike behaves better with the gas tank now and the bigger tire works well for me so hopefully starting from fourth place on the starting grid, we can achieve another solid race ".
Chaz Davies (Ducati n ° 7), 8th
“It was a tough race. I felt good at the start, but as the temperatures rose the grip was gone very quickly, after just a few laps. Halfway through the race the rear grip was very weak, j ‘then had to take more risks and I struggled with the front as well. I did all I could to reach the finish line in a decent position. We need to look at these issues more in depth. to determine the causes and know how to improve them, because I know what we will be capable of once the "feeling" is found..
Leon Camier (Honda n ° 2), 9th
"I’m happy with how the day went as I felt we got the best out of our current material for this track. Especially since we weren’t in testing here which meant we didn’t didn’t have much time to find the right set-up. We were quite strong in some parts of the race, we just need to work on a few weak spots to allow me to attack more tomorrow. Regarding my injuries, this race has been a lot easier than Donington, the pain is quite manageable and is only a problem when trying to overtake other riders. We will try to make some geometry changes to the Fireblade tonight to see if we can improve tomorrow and try again to enter the Top 6 ".
Loris Baz (BMW n ° 76), fall and 18th
"I’m fine, I’m just disappointed. I gave everything I could. We tried a lot of setups today, but we’re still suffering from dribbling and chatting. Even with the qualifying tire, I’m running out of grip. The engine which is a little aggressive, the electronics which we still have to develop, and the grip complicate the situation. I still managed to sign the eighth time of qualifying, which is rather positive. I had a good first start, I felt comfortable behind Lorenzo Savadori before I encountered some difficulties on lap 3. After which the race was interrupted with a red flag, and we took the opportunity to change a few settings and put on a new tire. Unfortunately, my feeling was not the same. Toprak Razgatlioglu quickly overtook me. As I had less and less grip, I had to compensate by using the front axle to follow it. I played with it. the cartography of the tent motorcycle r to be faster, but I lost the front by entering a little hard on a bump. It’s my first mistake of the year in racing and with everything I give in each event, things do happen. I am more disappointed with the difficulties that we encounter than with the fall itself. We will try to find some solutions by Sunday to resolve some of our grip issues. It’s frustrating, but as usual we’ll do our best ".
