Tips before buying gloves
Before you literally mistake your choice, please pay attention to the following points when trying on:
- When enclosing the handlebar grips, neither fingertips should bump uncomfortably, nor should creases or bulges form on the palm.
- It must be possible to close the wrist Velcro fastener securely and tightly to prevent unintentional slipping off.
- The best thing to do is to cover the bolt well so that it doesn’t get tangled up in the event of a fall.
- It is essential to check whether the hard-shell protectors are well padded in order not to additionally increase the risk of injury from sharp edges.
- A large Velcro strap for width adjustment ensures a firm, flutter-free fit on the sleeve.
- In particular, do not buy high-quality sports gloves made of initially rather rigid cowhide or kangaroo leather that are too large: they expand when you wear them!
This is how MOTORRAD tests
During driving tests and in the laboratory, the testers carefully examined all gloves and rated them according to the following criteria:
- Fit / comfort (35 points): On a winding pass route with many braking and coupling actions, the gloves were examined by various drivers for practicality and good fit. What about grip, mobility, comfort and proportions?
- Security (35 points): The damping behavior of the integrated protectors was evaluated on the Sas-Tec drop test rig in Markgroningen. In addition, reinforcements, anti-slip protection, stability of the basic construction and the abrasion protection provided by the upper material were assessed.
- Air conditioning (15 points): Sweaty in the sun? Poorly. Rapid cooling? Even. A good balance is optimal.
- Equipment / processing (15 points): Leather thickness and quality as well as all individual components and the entire workmanship of the glove were rated.
Recommendations from the MOTORRAD testers
Thorsten Dentges (46): Only the finest leather is preferred on thoroughbred sports motorcycles. And kangaroo doesn’t just find it best when visiting the zoo.
