"We support the decision of Editions Larivière to cancel the Bol d’Or 2020 in the context of tightening restrictions related to the health situation in France", explains François Ribeiro, director of Eurosport Events.
While waiting for the return of "this great event in September 2021", the promoter of the world endurance championship EWC assures to have "done everything possible to replace this final race in order to protect the interests of the championship and the teams".
The last event of the 2019-2020 season will therefore take place on September 27, 2020 with a new 12-hour race on the Estoril circuit (Portugal), which hosted MotoGP events from 2000 to 2012 and WorldSBK in 1988 and 1993 and will also host the .
"As a final, this 12-hour race will benefit from the valuation of 150% of the points in each category (EWC and Superstock) as well as intermediate points in the classification after 8 hours of racing", specifies the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM ) whose is also Portuguese.
In the meantime, the EWC World Championship teams will meet at Le Mans on August 29 and 30 for the .
