A big custom with an inverted fork, that should already put you in the ear. Once again, Honda hits hard and shakes up established values. His new twin which equips this almost 1,800 cm3 cube “power-cruiser”. A huge mill that spits no less than 106 hp and a huge torque of 16 mkg. Figures normally seen on machines prepared for drag racing. Such a block needed some adjustments to avoid going into a spin. The large twin cylinder is equipped with balancing arms while being mounted on silent-blocks. For greater safety, braking is entrusted to the CBS system. The transmission is provided by a cardan shaft. Sitting at ground level, it’s nice to see that despite its heavy weight, the machine is welcoming.
The driving position does not surprise by its definition, typical of a custom, but by the fact that it contrasts with the enormous potential of the engine. Arms outstretched, feet very forward, rocked by the singular flexibility of the twin, we almost forget the caution … We turn the handle firmly and the VTX shows its true face. The horses tumble with a wild thrust, leaving a large number of machines, even sports ones, in their place. With more torque than a Hayabusa, this custom challenges all throttle enthusiasts. Measured at 201 km / h but capable, they say, of 220 km / h, the VTX commands respect. It’s a shame that so much power can’t be used to contemplate long rides; the saddle provides comfort but the non-existent protection limits the ardor, as does the reduced ground clearance. But honestly, why is a dragster-custom made? Surely not to be a nice little roadster…
