At the “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este”, BMW presented this styling study based on the K 1600 GT: the Concept 101. A fairly advanced vision of a bagger developed on the basis of the Behemian flagship. The codes of the genre are respected, with a low and elusive appearance, a minimalist windshield, stylish suitcases carried by a sleek rear axle, and a general profile borrowing from finesse. At the heart of the 101 concept is the majestic 1643 cm3 in-line 6-cylinder, enclosed in an aluminum perimeter frame. Around, the stylists and engineers have loosened a little: wood veneer, use of carbon and brushed aluminum, design of the Duolever front axle revised, transparent clutch housing, square pots with side exits, thin LED blades for rear lights, etc….
Concept 101 was born in the workshops of Roland Sands. An interpretation of the trip that certainly announces more. A bagger for 2016 from the K 1600 series? We hear a lot about it, and some spy photos of an evolution of the K 1600 GT roam the web. The American market is very appreciative of this type of traveler. And BMW knows how to conquer each category of the market.
