The point from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m .: the favorites suffer !
It is under a sun which seems determined to pierce the clouds, that the masters of the place begin their recital. Exchange of race leader, withdrawal of National Moto, GMT 94 and wild Superstock riders: no time out to taste it !
The No.94 Yamaha has slackened the pace: will rainy tires start to cry for mercy? Suzuki n ° 2 is still at the top of the EWC ranking, n ° 95 of QERT leads the Superstock category thanks to its tenth place overall.
The BMW n ° 17 is first in the Open ahead of the Suzuki of team 18, the other BMW n ° 71 and especially the Bihr Metis !
Abandonment of the n ° 55 recorded at 3:52 pm, after its fall during the first braking at the Dunlop chicane: sad end for a team which seemed to be plagued by development problems on a machine that was apparently too "green" in terms of development.
SERT n ° 2 still leads ahead of GMT 94, then the second official Suzuki, the Yamaha of team Austria, that of team Acropolis and Suzuki n ° 110 of the Hernadez / Guersillon / Auger team.
The # 14 Yamaha follows almost a minute behind the leaders, ahead of the Phase One team and the # 10 Suzuki Infinite and the first Superstock, the QERT is now 9th !
Guillaume Dietrich is preparing to take over on the Suzuki n ° 2, taking advantage of the almost 30 seconds ahead of his pursuers forged by William Costes.
Big crash of the Yamaha Austria, then fifth and also of the Kawasaki n ° 59 which seems to be able to start again.
Stop n ° 8 and Ducati n ° 98 entered in Open.
The GMT takes the lead following the pit stop of No. 2 SERT: yet it comes out of the pits still driven by William Costes who doubles his stint !
Kawasaki n ° 8 and 3A Racing Yamaha stopped on laps 40.
Huge lap time from the Suzuki n ° 10 which signs a 1’50.875, nearly 5 seconds faster than the leading men !
Some drivers seem to have made the choice to switch back to slick tires, instead of intermediaries: a daring bet, because the track is "not dry everywhere !"worries Christophe Guyot.
The EWC podium is as follows: GMT 94 / SERT n ° 2 / SERT n ° 1, in Superproduction it is always the QERT which leads (6th overall), the Honda n ° 63 of Education Racing Team (14th overall ) and Suzuki n ° 27 from Bazar 2 (15th overall).
In the Open, the Ducati du DERT is illustrated at the top of the standings, thanks to a beautiful 17th place overall, ahead on the OPEN podium, the BMW n ° 71 ranked 19th in the scratch and the Bihr Metis (29th).
Note the descent in the LMS classification which surfs around 25th place, in front of the Suzuki n ° 20 of the Sarthe Avenir team.
The n ° 2 piloted by Costes goes straight, while the GMT refuels, the Kawasaki n ° 24 shoots straight ahead, apparently the victim of a mechanical problem.
William Costes returns to the pits: a priori, the choice of SERT tires was not the right one and it is Guillaume Dietrich who should take over this time. !
Sebastien Gimbert continues to prance in the lead after 49 laps in front of the two SERT machines, while the Suzuki of the Sapeurs Pompiers refueled and resumed the track with Guillaume Pialoux at the controls.
Suzuki n ° 72 stops: could it be a clutch problem, like those encountered during the test sessions? ?
Suzuki 95 and Yamaha 111 pits for their first stint.
The rider of the Kawasaki n ° 24 struggles to return to the pits, after a long session in the stroller. Emmanuel Labussière, exhausted, will confirm the breakage of the crown of his machine.
The n ° 18 crashed and the fire engine started to catch fire !
Matthieu Lagrive takes over from Vincent Philippe after 54 racing laps.
Superb recovery of the Suzuki n ° 10 of the Infini Team, currently 4th !
Fall of the MV Agusta, then in 14th position: Patrick Piot can start again from the gravel, but has lost a lot of time and must return to the pits.
At the head of the race, Sebastien Gimbert reacts to the return of the Suzuki n ° 2 by signing two successive lap records: the Yamaha and the SERT Suzuki are the only machines to turn below 1’42, after almost two hours of racing..
Suzuki n ° 1 passes its little sister at the start of the 62nd lap: Mathieu Lagrive is forcing himself to try to catch up on Sebastien Gimbert who is almost a minute ahead !
The official SERT rider also took the opportunity to set the fastest lap in the race in 1’40.625. The best Honda is classified in a satisfactory 11th place, thanks to the RMT # 21 team.
Mathieu Lagrive continues his momentum and hangs lap record on lap record to now turn 2 seconds faster than the Yamaha of GMT 94 !
Sebastien Gimbert who approaches the Dunlop with an approximate trajectory: it is a real twist for the men of the GMT: at 5.13 p.m., the Yamaha engine lets out smoke and the poor pilot is forced to pull over to the side !
Annoyed by this twist of fate, worn out by effort and tension, Sebastien Gimbert only pushes his machine a few dozen meters, before … moving away more than ten meters from his machine, meaning pure abandonment and simple from the stable !
After the 72nd lap, Mathieu Lagrive’s Suzuki leads the race ahead of n ° 2, Yamaha n ° 3 from Phase One, Suzuki Infini and the machine from Folch Endurance.
At 5:00 p.m., the first five in each category are:
- EWC: Suzuki n ° 1 ahead of n ° 2 (only official machines still in the race) / Infini Team n ° 10 / the 99 of the Acrapolis Moto Expert team and the Suzuki n ° 110 of the AM Moto Racing team.
- Superstock: Education Racing Team (11th overall) / the QERT (12th overall) / the Junior Team Suzuki (15th overall) / the Bazar 2 team the Becane TRT27 (17th overall) and the Suzuki n ° 20 of the Sarthe team Future (18th).
- Open: BMW Motorrad Motorsport places its two machines at the top of this category by taking 8th place (n ° 1) and 19th place (n ° 2)..
