By winning his thirteenth victory in a row in the TrialGP world championship, Toni Bou won a thirteenth successive outdoor title. The HRC pilot remains undefeated since 2007, as in indoor… His colleague and compatriot in MotoGP, Marc Marquez, still has work to do! Explanations.

The penultimate round of the world trial championship was held this weekend in France, in the resort of Auron (06). Winner of the first six events in 2019 – and the previous six in 2018! -, Toni Bou therefore aimed for a thirteenth victory in a row.

After brilliantly qualifying in pole position (see his amazing performance in the second video, at the bottom of this article), the Spanish rider made a solid first pass and came close to perfect on his second lap, thus validating his 111th success in world trials !

"Today I had to work hard to make the difference, especially in the first sections", explained the winner on Sunday evening. "But we applied ourselves and got to section 8 without any penalties. I think I did a smart course. I felt very comfortable on the bike.".

Toni Bou’s joy was increased tenfold – and even multiplied by thirteen! – because of obtaining his thirteenth world title, also in a row! Since joining the HRC factory team in 2007, the Spanish rider has never come down from the top step of the world podium, both outdoors and indoors (X-Trial)…

"As always, there is no better way to win a new title than with a victory and strong emotions", rejoices the compatriot and colleague of Marc Marquez at Repsol. Let us remember that the MotoGP world champion is running "only" towards his sixth title in seven top-class seasons … a more trying and contested discipline than TrialGP ?

"This world championship has been short but intense", assures Toni Bou, winner of the first seven rounds of the 2019 championship which has only eight in total (against nine rounds last year, twelve in 2017, fifteen in 2016, 18 in 2015 (!), And between eleven and thirteen during the first eight glorious years of Catalan at the highest level.

"I think we have matured a lot this season," he analyzes. “Last year we had a lot of injuries, as we have been very comfortable on the bike this year which has been reflected in the wins and the ride. Now is the time to savor the moment. and enjoy the holidays ".

Author of a perfect score so far (140 points amassed against 113 for his great rival Adam Raga on TRS), Toni will be keen to pocket the last 20 points at stake on September 21 and 22 at home, in Spain (La Nucia, Valencia).

The Spanish trials rider – who will turn 33 on October 17 – offers a 21st world title in this discipline to Honda, which competes under the name of its Spanish subsidiary "Montesa". In 2020, Toni Bou will seek to win his fourteenth title: unheard of in trials !

In the female category, Laia Sanz stopped at thirteen world crowns (obtained from 2000 to 2006 then from 2008 to 2013), the Spanish rider preferring to turn to enduro and rally raid. Emma Bristow has taken over brilliantly and looks good on her way to a 6th straight title, one less than her own compatriot Doug Lampkin.

Finally, we salute to conclude the coronation in Trial125 of the French pilot Kieran Touly (Scorpa) in front of his audience. Alexandre Ferrer (Sherco) also shone in the French Alps in Trial2 by winning "our" national round organized by the Moto Club La Gaude.
