All Tests - Does the new Honda SW-T400 suck at Tmax? - Forza the replacement of the Silver Wing 400!

The only twin cylinder among 400 cc maxiscooters, the Silver Wing 400 gave way in 2009 to the SW-T400. By polishing the dynamic behavior of its scooter and radically transforming its lines, does Honda have the means to worry the Tmax ? Test.

Forza the replacement of the Silver Wing 400 !

Aesthetically, the SW-T400 no longer has much to do with its predecessor. Although the engine remained strictly the same – which did not prevent a slight increase in the maximum values - and that the chassis has only undergone slight alterations, the change of name of the Honda 400 is fully justified..

The front part has completely changed, the triangular optics of the Silver Wing 600 giving way to two optics taking the style of the little brother – little known in France – Forza 250. Thus, the maxiscoot 400 acquires a family resemblance "Honda" that does not does not have the Silver Wing series: the face of the SW-T400 is similar to those of the S-Wing, CBR1000RR or GoldWing.

Above the single air intake sits a high screen (original) perfectly integrated into the receding "front" of this new 2009 product, while the indicators migrate down the front fairing, whose curves are clearly more only worked on the Silver Wing.

Ditto for the central part of the machine: the beam, for example, receives on the SW-T400 a coat of paint which underlines the elegance of the new lines. The rear sides, painted in their upper part but matt below, contribute to this impression of fluidity which did not emerge from the old model.

Only the rear part of the new Honda lacks a hint of finesse to complete the new sleeker and sportier line of this Honda scooter. Admittedly, the characteristic spoiler of the Silver Wing is still there, but it is not enough to compete with the "small butt" of the Tmax…

On the other hand, the SW-T400 is flawless at the level of the dashboard: no less than five dials distill all the necessary information, from the speed to the warning light of the HISS immobilizer system via the fuel gauge, that of the engine temperature and its speed in revolutions / minute, the hour, the mileage (total and two trips), the operating light of the V-Belt and even an instantaneous consumption indicator !

Something to make the Wingers – the owners of GoldWing – particularly envious, who can however be consoled by noting the absence on the scooter of indication of the outside temperature, of the tire pressure – why not? – or even, more annoying, warning !
