Peugeot Django 125 scooter test: neo-retro-work-sleep
Unveiled at the Eicma 2013 Show, the Django will finally land in Peugeot dealerships. Skilfully blending retro and modern, development in France and production in China, this new scooter has just been presented in Paris.. MNC was there: test.
Django_ID: online and tailor-made
Peugeot has an idea! If the Indian brand LML already allowed its customers to customize their scooters, Peugeot Scooters is the first manufacturer to offer a powerful online configurator offering no less than 110,000 combinations….
Extrapolated from the platform used by Peugeot’s automotive branch, a dedicated site ("online in a few days", assures the manufacturer) will make it possible to create practically from any room its own Django: there will be offered 22 different colors, 4 engines (50 2-T or 4-T, 125 or even 150 cc), 7 saddles, 2 body rings, 3 mirrors … and lots of accessories !
Impossible, however, to rename his future mount: "the Django name that appears on the sides is injected chrome, so it would be difficult (very expensive, editor’s note!) make one per customer". Nickname your scooter through stickers would be"conceivable", according to product manager Christelle Huchette, but everything will depend on demand.
Gold "the Django_ID will represent a small percentage of the Django sales volume", admits our interlocutor. Her site therefore represents above all a – pretty – showcase which must"make you want to discover the four worlds of our new scooter".
"Internet users can then share their creation (s) via social networks"… and thus create a buzz noise, Peugeot predicts! Some, finally, will cross the threshold of a dealership to order their Django_ID" irl ".
" All they need to do is print their quote (the invoice can be close to 4000 euros, Editor’s note) and go to the nearest dealer to validate the order", details Peugeot which will launch this new formula"early 2015".
The production time is estimated at one month, the time to send the naked scooter on the one hand (stored in Fosse-sur-Mer, from China) and the trim elements on the other hand (body, saddle , spare parts supplied by Mandeure) to the dealer who will be responsible for assembling everything.
"All dealers will be authorized to carry out this operation", warns our interlocutor."But again, the volumes will be confidential and only large concessions should be sought.".
"Our dedicated site will be accessible via peugeotscooters.fr, from next Monday", announces the head of the Peugeot Scooters press service. On your mark, get set ?
