US crosser with electric drive
The Californian electric bike specialist Alta Motors has presented the MXR model, a new crosser with a purely electric drive.
E.Electric motors as a drive are also becoming more and more popular in the off-road scene. The US supplier Alta Motors from California has now made a new contribution to this topic.
With the recently introduced Alta Motors MXR, the US boys are aiming straight at the 350 four-stroke class. In order to be able to compete here, the MXR is equipped with a 50 HP electric motor, which provides a full torque of 200 Nm. The drive torque flows to the rear wheel via an input gear. The powerful drive has to deal with a total weight of just 117.5 kg.
Over 4 hours of off-road driving fun
The electric motor draws its energy from a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 5.8 kWh. The charging time given in combination with a fast charger is around 1.5 hours. Alta Motors does not specify a range directly. On the cross slope, however, there should be more than 25 laps with one charge. Enduro tours are expected to travel over 4 hours. The pilot can choose between four driving programs, which gradually sharpen the character of the drive.

The electric motor and the gearbox are located far below in the aluminum frame.
As is customary in this class, the MXR rolls on a 21-inch wheel at the front and a 19-inch wheel at the rear. The frame and swing arm are made of aluminum. Brembo stoppers are used to decelerate. At the front, two-piston pliers bite into a size 260 disc, while single-piston pliers grapple with a size 240 disc at the rear. The fully adjustable spring elements at the front and rear come from White Power, the plastic parts are from Acerbis.
As an electric motorcycle, the MXR should be virtually maintenance-free and also incredibly quiet. But it is definitely not incredibly cheap: Orders are accepted from 11,995 US dollars.
