How not to fall under the spell! With the RS 660, Aprilia is taking a slightly crazy gamble, cleverly daring and so sassy today: a sports car for fun, for the trajectories, for fast turns, for the joy of sport without the tiring giddiness of competition.. Under the drag of this mid-capacity RS, we can expect beautiful parts of jousting and rims.

The finesse, the speed, almost a bit of intoxication for this tigress. The RS 660 is immediately desirable. Like a feline, not ready to pounce but which has already taken its impetus to mark the road with a footprint full of piloting. Atypical, Aprilia is not aimed at podiums, timesheets or awards. Except that of providing the pilot’s excitement.
Its engine goes in the same direction. The manufacturer has (to simplify) cut his V4 in half to give birth to a small compact and nervous block. We do not go too far on the power figures but we can speculate discreetly on a 95 horsepower – which would allow this RS to receive an A2 bridle and thus make the eyes of young people allowed. But what will these little hundred nags do in the face of the big 200 hp of hypersports? They will allow the use of power for many more amateurs and / or confirmed, of chiseled piloting, accessible to more people than the monsters of the track who have enough to overwhelm 99% of bikers. Like a certain Norton Superlight, the RS 660 dreams of flying.

Noale however took advantage of this foray into a new niche to express his efforts in the wind tunnel. The fairing undertakes aerodynamic work to exploit the air flows. Among other things, winglets have been designed in the side panels.
New engine, frame too. A perimeter structure in aluminum with double spars channels the potential of the machine. It uses the engine as a stiffening element. The swingarm, all aluminum, seems to be derived from that of the 900 Shiver.
Electronics will inevitably be there. The APRC pack should have too many difficulties to be adapted to this reasonable size. Traction control, shifter, anti-wheeling and Riding Modes will most certainly be there. And surely much more…
As for Ohlins suspensions and Brembo M50 calipers, let’s not take them at face value – This RS 660 is only a prototype for the moment.

That ? Yes, but advanced enough to hope for more than just a demonstration exercise. If there is a final version, it must have suffered from some modifications but the essential is there, ready to hunt. Neither supersports nor medals; only those moments when you enter the bends with your right hand ready to weld.
