Aprilia Tuono V4 X limited special model
Radical naked bike for the racetrack
Lighter, stronger, more expensive – the Aprilia Tuono V4 X, limited to ten pieces, comes straight from Aprilia’s racing department and adopts technology derived from MotoGP.
Radical and brutal – this is not an advertising slogan, but rather describes the one designed for the racetrack A.prilia Tuono V4 X to the point. It has a dry weight of just 166 kilograms, while the Tuono V4 1100 as RR or Factory in series trim weighs around 200 kilograms dry. Carbon fiber diet is the magic word, because all paneling parts on the Aprilia Tuono V4 X are made of carbon. The front, for example, is adorned with a large carbon panel with winglets from MotoGP, which ensures proper stability and contact pressure on the front wheel.
Visually, there is also a good portion of Bol d’Or, because for the graphics on the fairing, the Aprilia Tuono V4 X took the in-house two-cylinder RSV 1000 R Factory as a model, which started in the legendary endurance race in France in 2006. The tank has the shape of the original but is lighter. Aluminum components also help to reduce weight: the clutch lever, brake lever protector, protectors on the crankcase, the adjustable footrests and the fuel tank cap are made of aluminum. The switches on the handlebars come directly from racing, with which the electronic control systems of the Tuono V4 can be operated smoothly on the racetrack.
Aprilia Tuono V4 X with 221 hp
Marchesini rims made of forged magnesium, around which slick tires nestle, should ensure extremely good handling and bring the power of the V4, which has increased to 221 hp, onto the asphalt. The V4 in the Tuono has 175 hp as standard, and 217 hp in the RSV4 1100 Factory. The 221 hp in the Aprilia Tuono V4 X owes the 1,077 cm³ four-cylinder on the one hand to the racing exhaust system from Akrapovic, which comes with a titanium manifold and carbon muffler, and the air filter, which comes from MotoGP and is supposed to offer the highest possible permeability.
On the other hand, the changed electronic set-up is responsible for the 221 hp: The control unit revised by the racing department ensures full power in all adjustable areas in terms of engine control and mapping and is optimized for the racing exhaust system. Wheelie and traction control help you control the 221 hp Aprilia Tuono V4 X, the Quickshifter helps you change gears – regardless of whether you shift up or down. In the cockpit, a TFT color instrument provides information about the lap times, which are determined by an integrated GPS sensor.
The deceleration is carried out by a racing system from Brembo, which comprises the following components: GP4-MS brake calipers milled from the aluminum block, T-Drive steel brake discs with an aluminum bell milled from solid, and a radial pump – also milled from the aluminum block.
A first small series with ten copies is planned. The Aprilia Tuono V4 X can be ordered directly from the Aprilia website. For the price of 34,900 euros, buyers can also enjoy an exclusive visit to the racing department in Noale when they collect their bike directly from Aprilia Racing.
Conclusion
Stub handlebars? You don’t need it for the racetrack – Aprilia makes that clear once and for all with the Tuono V4 X. And MotoGP technology is no longer reserved for professionals. But for those who can easily make 34,900 euros for a pure racetrack bike. But there is always something …
