13 motorcycle short shaft boots put to the test
13 short shaft boots put to the test
Which boot is the best?

But comfortable short boots can also score points when riding a motorcycle?

- Upper material: Artificial leather, textile
- Membrane: yes, k. A..
- Weight: 1395 g (pair, size 45)

- Shaft height: 24 cm
- Upper material: PU-coated leather
- Membrane: Hipora
- Weight: 1470 g (pair, size 45)

mps photo studio
Daytona AC Dry GTX
- Price: 279.95 euros

- Shaft height: 20 cm
- Upper material: leather
- Membrane: Gore-Tex
- Weight: 1824 g (pair, size 45)

mps photo studio

- Shaft Height: 19 cm
- Upper material: Synthetic leather
- Membrane: Aerotex

Conclusion: Low weight despite a rather bulky appearance and a largely inconspicuous behavior on the motorcycle speak in favor of the Difi Freedom 2 Aerotex. However, the fit, comfort and ventilation are only moderate.
MOTORRAD verdict: satisfactory

mps photo studio
Furygan Jed D30 Sympatex
- Price: 129.00 euros

- Country of Manufacture: k. A..
Conclusion: the Furygan Jet with D3O protectors and Sympatex membrane is the cheapest and lightest boot in the test, and it shines with a great fit and a lot of comfort. With the right switching amplification, even more would be possible
MOTORRAD verdict: good

mps photo studio
Hero Andamos
- Price: 149.95 euros
- Sizes: 36 to 50
- Shaft height: 22 cm
- Upper material: Leather, textile
- Membrane: Hipora
- Weight: 1572 g (pair, size 45)
- Country of Manufacture: Pakistan
Conclusion: The huge range of sizes from 36 to 50 speaks for the hero Andamos, getting dressed is quick and easy. Unfortunately, the Velcro opens when you move heavily, and weather protection, comfort and wearing comfort are also disappointing
MOTORRAD verdict: satisfactory
9. iXS “Tour Pacego-ST”
mps photo studio
iXS Tour Pacego-ST
- Price: 129.95 euros
- Sizes: 36 to 48
- Shaft height: 23 cm

- Membrane: Solto-Tex
- Weight: 1540 g (pair, size 45)
- Country of Manufacture: Pakistan
Conclusion: At first glance, the iXS Pacego-ST is very similar to the Buse boot, but it makes everything a bit better – only the fit could not convince any of the testers. Apart from that, it is a comfortable and very safe boot.
MOTORRAD verdict: good

mps photo studio
Kochmann cyclone
- Price: 139.95 euros
- Sizes: 37 to 48
- Shaft height: 24 cm
- Upper material: leather
- Membrane: Hipora
- Weight: 1532 g (pair, size 45)
- Country of Manufacture: Pakistan
Conclusion: The visually successful Kochmann Zyklon pleases with great protection and a neat fit on the foot. It loses a few points due to negligence in processing, and cushioning and ventilation could also be better.
MOTORRAD verdict: good
11. O’Neal “RMX shorty”
mps photo studio
O’Neal RMX Shorty
- Price: 129.99 euros
- Sizes: 39 to 47
- Shaft height: 16 cm
- Upper material: Suede, synthetic leather
- Membrane: only treated to be water-repellent
- Weight: 1548 g (pair, size 45)
- Country of Manufacture: Bangladesh
Conclusion: Inexpensive and good, but not really waterproof due to the missing membrane. That costs the O’Neal a few points despite the functioning water-repellent coating. He pleases with high mobility and a lot of security.
MOTORRAD verdict: good

mps photo studio
TCX Vibe WP
- Price: 149.99 euros

MOTORCYCLE rating: very good, MOTORCYCLE buyer’s tip
13. XPD “X-Sense Outdry”
mps photo studio
XPD X-Sense Outdry
- Price: 199.90 euros
- Sizes: 36 to 48
- Shaft height: 24 cm
- Upper material: leather
- Membrane: Outdry
- Weight: 1568 g (pair, size 45)
- Country of Manufacture: Romania
Conclusion: A lack of comfort on the motorcycle and on foot unfortunately spoils the overall impression, apart from that the XPD X-Sense is a neatly made, waterproof and very safe (not-so-short) boot.
MOTORRAD verdict: good
Conclusion
The most expensive wins? Yes and no. Because tied with the Daytona AC Dry GTX, the heaviest and most expensive boot in the test, one of the cheapest and lightest boots also lands in first place. The TCX Vibe WP does a lot of things very differently: For a lively, youthful look, it combines suede, mesh lining and red accents, while the representative from Frey-Daytona is much more classic in leather and with lots of black. They also differ in detail, but both impress with a great fit, a lot of comfort, good ventilation and reliable weather protection.
Some of the other participants failed here, but for a large part of the test field the following applies unreservedly: These boots are made for walkin ’- and for ridin’!
