NOISE and MOTORCYCLE
Since then Tyrol in terms of driving bans causes a sensation with interesting interpretations of homologation data, the issue of motorcycle noise and its consequences is a bigger issue than ever before. In the fairway Austria steers the Greens with demands and position papers around and in the Dolomites you are only allowed to cross the passes at 60 km / h be driven. Switzerland too has recently taken on the topic. Federal Transport Minister Scheuer and the interest groups have been discussing for a long time and the Manufacturers of loud machines are calling on their own association to drive more quietly.

Signs against driving bans
“With the digital forum, we want to bring everyone involved to one table. From our point of view, collective punishment does not solve the problem, because most motorcyclists are considerate. Instead of blanket bans, we must appeal to motorcyclists to drive responsibly”, calls for Rudi Speich, Board Member for Transport & Technology at the ADAC Mittelrhein e.V. To this end, the ADAC recently started a nationwide pilot project: In the Gelbach Valley in the Niederwesterwald near Montabaur, information signs have been installed to point out sections of the route that are particularly affected by motorcycle noise.
No April Fool’s joke
The round of talks on April 1, 2021 is definitely not an April Fool’s joke. The live stream starts at 11:30 a.m. on the Site of the ADAC Mittelrhein. There are ideas, opinions and maybe also answers in this round of:
- Rolf Deviscour, Chief Inspector Police Inspection Prum
- Rolf Frieling, Chairman of the Biker Union
- Ulrich Jurgens, Mayor Isselbach
- Frank Puchtler, District Administrator Rhein-Lahn-Kreis
- Marco Schmunkamp, board member Silent Rider e.V.
- Rudi Speich, Head of Transport & Technology ADAC Mittelrhein e.V

How do you feel about motorcycling and noise??
There is no need for excessive noise, so I adapt my driving style.
This is not noise, but sound – and it is part of riding a motorcycle, no matter how loud.

Conclusion
Discussions are good. Solution-oriented and apolitical are even better. Whether the ADAC Mittelrhein can do on a small scale what the federal government, the EU, the manufacturers and all associations cannot do together is questionable, but desirable. In the end, it doesn’t matter who starts: The main thing is that the topic is approached with a dynamic result.
