BMW R1250RT conversion by Hornig
The most individual travel tourer one could wish for
Individuality always plays an important role in our motorcycle conversions. And so this approach runs like a red thread through the modification of the new BMW R1250RT, whose particular strength, as the youngest member of the RT family, is clearly in the area of the renewed and variably valve-controlled boxer engine.
05/13/2019
The individual character is already expressed in the V-Stream windshield installed by us and ensures excellent aerodynamics and thus also a minimal noise level, which should not be underestimated on longer tours. A navigation device and a matching GPS holder are of course indispensable for a touring tourer, which ensures that the digital route planner always remains optimally in the field of vision. Instead of the unsightly rubber stoppers, we rely on our stylish aluminum covers for the fork tube and in this way ensure a visual specialty without a doubt. Our red and black brake and clutch levers stand for easy handling combined with a sporty design. But the anodized handlebar end weights don’t miss their effect either. Gone are the days when you had to worry about scratches on the fork bridge, because this area of the R1250RT is effectively protected by our protective pad in carbon look. But also for another sensitive area, the tank, we deliver a stylish and practical solution for paint protection with the carbon tank pad. The tank bag and bracket, which has a capacity of 25 liters, is essential for a touring motorcycle. In order to be able to drive comfortably, the most important thing is the right seat, which is why we have re-upholstered the seat, which leads to a much more relaxed sitting position. As an ideal addition to the tank bag, we have installed the Givi topcase with a storage space of 56 liters.
A radiator grille was attached to keep dirt away from the radiator fins. A special safety plus is obtained with the black oil cover, as it can only be opened by means of a side hole and with the help of an Allen key or Torx in the vehicle tool kit. A dirty engine housing or stone chip damage are a thing of the past with the fender extension. The side stand foot enlargement ensures that the BMW R1250RT stands securely. In order not to slip when shifting, we have installed our gear lever enlargement with O-rings. Just like the swing arm bearing covers over the footrests, the frame cover over the swing arm bearing and the bearing journal cover on the cardan also hide unsightly openings on the R1250RT. With our wheel axle cover you kill two birds with one stone: On the one hand, it provides a visual improvement, on the other hand, the cooling of the cardan is facilitated by the holes it contains.
Ultimately, the Hornig conversion is refined with the decor sticker set and the color-coordinated universal rim edge stickers, which alone shows its specialty. The motorcycle is impressively heard by the built-in two-tone Wolo Bad Boy horn.
