Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, earned medals, nicknames and the status of British national hero as a guerrilla fighter in Arabia during the First World War. After the war he gave himself up to his great passion – motorcycling. His choice fell on various models from the Brough Superior brand, which at the time were considered the Rolls-Royce of two-wheelers. Lawrence’s fame also gave the motorcycle manufacturer its corresponding glamor.

Now the motorcycle manufacturer pays homage to the war hero with the special Lawrence model. Only 188 copies are to be built. The new Lawrence is based on the familiar Brough Superior SS 100, but has been further refined in many points.

Titanium frame

The frame of the Lawrence is made entirely of titanium. The 19 inch front wheel with a 120/70 tire is located in an aluminum fork milled from solid according to the Fior principle with a fully adjustable 120 mm central spring strut. The aluminum rear swing arm is also supported by a fully adjustable central spring strut with 130 mm of travel. At the back there is a 17-inch wheel with a 200/55 tire. The braking system comes from the Beringer shelf.

The few cladding parts of the Lawrence have been completely redrawn. The new tank-seat combination makes the Lawrence look slimmer and more sinewy than its sister models. Even if all parts are made of visible carbon, the retro look of the machine is retained.

102 hp, but no price

The well-known V2 engine, which continues to be classified according to Euro 4, is also retained, generating 102 hp from just under one liter and delivering 87 Nm of torque to the crankshaft. The exhaust gases escape through two raised end pots. It is shifted by a six-speed gearbox, the final drive is via a chain. The weight distribution should be 50:50, the weight 200 kilograms.

Brough Superior does not name prices for the Lawrence.

Conclusion

The French entrepreneur Thierry Henriette, who owns the Brough Superior brand, wants to commemorate the British national hero Lawrence of Arabia with the new Lawrence. The presentation of the special model is extremely classy. The price should be accordingly.
