The new Dainese Smart Jacket, a D-Air airbag vest, can be worn over or under other jackets. Triggering takes place wirelessly. Thanks to a special air flow system, it should protect particularly reliably and at every point.

The new smart airbag vest is the first from the Italian supplier that can be worn over or under any other jacket. A connection to the motorcycle to trigger the airbag is not necessary. This is done by an integrated, smart control module.

The brain of the trigger mechanism is controlled by an algorithm that collects and compares data 1,000 times per second via seven connected sensors and initiates the airbag deployment when certain threshold values ​​are exceeded. The airbag is activated in the event of slipping, being dropped, colliding with an obstacle or another vehicle, or in a rear-end collision. However, the algorithm also reacts in the event of a collision with the vehicle stationary. Elements are inflated in front of the chest and in the back. The protective effect should correspond to seven fixed level 1 protectors and also cover an even larger area.

Since there is no built-in protector, the vest should be comfortable to wear and fold up small when not in use. In addition, the vest is wind-permeable and weatherproof, so that it can be worn over a jacket or station wagon in any weather. The integrated battery of the control allows an operating time of 26 hours. The battery can then be recharged via the USB port.

After the airbag has been deployed, the vest must be taken to an authorized dealer, where the inner shield can be easily replaced without complex interventions or long waiting times.
