deBolex Ducati 803
Classic conversion based on Scrambler 800
The British motorcycle manufacturer deBolex makes motorcyclists’ dreams come true. A classic sports motorcycle was to be created for a customer on the basis of a Ducati Scrambler 800. The result is the deBolex Ducati 803.
The customer’s specifications were simple. He wanted a sports motorcycle with classic lines and the Ducati 800 should be the basis S.crambler serve. So Calum Pryce-Tidd and his partner Des Francis, the minds behind deBolex Engineering, had almost a free hand.
The frame and engine remain original
Because the frame, swing arm and motor met their expectations, these components were left untouched during the conversion. The innards of the serial fork had to give way to an Andeani cartridge. The rear swing arm is supported by a new Maxton strut. For the gear train, the British agreed on 17-inch spoke rims that were fitted with Metzeler Racetec RR tires. For a sportier seating position, Renthal handlebars have moved under the upper triple clamp, Rizoma contributes footrests that have been moved back. The brakes and clutches receive milled levers.

The new trim parts are characteristic of the new, sporty appearance. The long, slim tank was handcrafted from aluminum. On the rear of the frame is a narrowly cut hump, also made of aluminum, with an Alcantara bench seat. The small half-shell fairing without headlights, which stretches tightly around the steering head and is of course also made of aluminum, is extremely classic. There was just enough space behind the small panel to accommodate the original round instrument. The transformation into a retro athlete is rounded off by the two-part side panel with its distinctive front ventilation openings, which is skin-tight on the V2. Of course, a new exhaust should not be missing. deBolex has created an almost endlessly long megaphone made of stainless steel, which releases the exhaust gases from the two-cylinder next to the hump. The makers could not resist the reference to the unique status. The hump is labeled “1/1”.
