It is not the invention of the wheel, but an invention for cyclists. So cyclists. And if motorcyclists and cyclists have something in common, it is definitely the problem that they tend to be overlooked. There are plenty of reflective backpacks for more visibility, but they often come in a neon-style safety vest or with only partially attached reflective strips or surfaces. The fact that the entire backpack is made of a reflective material and looks rather inconspicuous and chic in daylight is a specialty.

And the backpack really reflects completely. To make it look a little more realistic than in the manufacturer’s video, we withdrew into the darkroom (aka tire store) with our test copy, put our companions between the completely non-reflective rubbers, turned off the light and switched on the workshop LED lamp. It doesn’t look as fancy and impressive as in the Property Of … video, but you can see that the backpack actually lights up when it is lit..

The Mitch Backpack by Property Of is 31 centimeters … wide, 40 centimeters high and 10 centimeters narrow, with between 12.5 and 15 liters of storage space – depending on how tightly or generously it is folded at the top. In addition to the large main compartment, there are two small secondary compartments that can be accessed via zippers on the side and on the back. They are suitable for smaller and at best flat luggage such as a telephone, wallet and keys.

The back padding in the main compartment also serves as a partition. Objects that are carelessly thrown into the main compartment can be looked for in a panic and in vain – until you feel behind the partition and everything missing is fished out of your backpack.

Unfortunately, there is no zipper through which you can reach into the main compartment, for example at the top on the back. To do this, the chic leather flap has to be opened every time.

We also tested the Mitch Backpack in the rain. He survived half an hour in a moderate shower, the cargo stayed dry. For trips lasting several days on which heavier rains are to be expected, we prefer to use more robust pieces of luggage from the motorcycle accessory trade.

Conclusion

The light function of the Mitch Backpack by Property of … increases visibility and provides security in everyday life during the dark season – even when the chic safety vest just doesn’t match your outfit. The closure of the main compartment with a leather flap is chic, but also more cumbersome than a simple zipper. It gets confusing when small items slip behind the back padding. The Mitch Backpack from Property of … is not too good for a short shower, but crossing the Alps in the rain should overwhelm it. The material makes a high-quality and long-lasting impression, there is nothing to complain about about the workmanship.

At higher speeds (over 50 km / h) we recommend folding the rucksack at the top several times. There are two eyelets for the fastening strap so that the airstream has to find another playmate. The wide and comfortably padded shoulder straps don’t get in the way of driving, but there is no cross strap with which the two can be connected. Adjusting belts with motorcycle gloves? Yes, it’s fine. Two loops guide the straps of the straps, but the excess lengths then flutter in the wind. Well-known backpackers know that.
