Cult bike collection turns 10 years

In 2008 Harley-Davidson opened its company museum. This year the US cult bikes exhibition is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

The US motorcycle manufacturer opened on July 12, 2008 Harley-Davidson his factory museum. The building complex designed by the New York architects James Biber and Michael Zweck-Bronner stands on an 81,000 m² area in Milwaukee Man at the intersection of Sixth Street and West Canal Street, surrounded on three sides by the Menomonee River. In addition to the permanent exhibition on two levels, the $ 75 million building also houses a restaurant and a museum shop.

12,000 m² are available in the interior for the permanent exhibitions and the various special shows. Here visitors will find around 8,000 exhibits, including around 170 historic motorcycles. The two-wheeled highlights include Serial Number 1, the oldest surviving Harley-Davidson from 1903, the 1956 KH from Elvis Presley and the replicas of the “Easy Rider” legitimized by Peter Fonda”-Bikes.

The Engine Room brings the history, technology and sound of the Harley-Davidson V-engines to life, a wooden banked curve forms the stage for the board-track racing machines of the 1910s and 1920s and a hundred classic tanks on the tank wall illustrate the development of the Harley-Davidson Designs. Biker movies, toys, motorsport, custom styling and motorcycle clubs are among the other main topics.

By the way: Harley-Davidson is celebrating an anniversary in 2018. From August 29th to September 2nd the mega party for the 115th company anniversary will take place in Milwaukee. Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903.

If you want to be there, you can now win a trip for two to the anniversary party in Milwaukee as part of a test drive campaign. It includes flights, accommodation for five nights and € 2,500 pocket money as well as a Harley-Davidson for the duration of your stay. The only requirement for participating in the competition is a test drive on a new Harley model. This must be booked online via the Harley-Davidson website by May 31st and completed by June 17th.
