Holstein Switzerland

Holstein Switzerland
Brosel’s territory

Switzerland in the north is located just before the Danish border. With 168 meters of altitude, an infinite number of lakes and Werner Brosel’s home route right in the middle of it? Well, if that is not something.

Anyone who claims that behind the Teutoburg Forest, Germany would only slip into the eternally flat nothingness of the north, does not know Holstein Switzerland – the hilly country off the Baltic Sea coast north of the Lubeck-Kiel axis, surrounded by dense forests, wide fields and lush green pastures. Anyone who drives a motorcycle here experiences a region of Schleswig-Holstein that hardly corresponds to the cliche of the flat country. More than 150 smaller and larger lakes are embedded in the hilly landscape, around which the route winds along the smallest of paths. The large lakes alone, connected by the Schwentine river, cover an area of around 40 square kilometers. This means that the area cannot compete with “real” Switzerland, just as it can in terms of altitude, but this name guarantees the attractiveness of the landscape. And so the name Holstein Switzerland was coined around 1900 by a clever hotelier in order to strengthen the tourist attraction ?? a doping that this charming region, rising to 168 meters on the Bungsberg near Eutin, does not really need, but no matter, not only bikers from nearby cities such as Hamburg or Kiel in Holstein Switzerland find a destination to really good motorcycle to drive and enjoy a varied landscape formed by ice age glaciers. Anyone who also enjoys water sports is in the right place here. Small and very small roads wind their way up and down, and if you like, you can even get a little sand and gravel feeling on official paths. Or enjoy the wonderful bolling while crossing the small wooden bridges over the numerous watercourses? For example between Behl, Timmdorf and Kleveez, “wedged in” between Behler, Suhrer and Dieksee. The two larger cities of the Nordic “Switzerland” trip are also delightful: Plon attracts with its location on the banks of the largest lake in the region, its cozy winding old town and last but not least a castle from the 17th century. Eutin has the most inhabitants with 19,000. Located between the two small Eutin lakes, there is a moated castle with a 700-year history and also a great old town to visit. The health resort with the tongue-twisting name Bad Malente-Gremsmuhlen extends between the Diek and Kellersee lakes, surrounded by dense forests. The promenade on the Dieksee is particularly appealing because of its slightly withered charm and the beautiful view over the lake. maybe in the evening with a romantic sunset and suitable company. Around the lakes, the route leads through countless smaller villages that are either down-to-earth rural or have a holiday and spa atmosphere. A pearl is the small, idyllic Bosau on a headland in the southeastern Grober Ploner See with the pretty stone church of St. Petri from the 12th century, including an old cemetery and some thatched-roof country houses and manor houses. Pure Holstein: if you drive through one of the many avenues where the old oaks form a leaf tunnel, for example between Hornsdorf and Seedorf, or if you glide over a road at Lebrade through the lake of the same name, then you know why Werner drives his motorcycle here as hard as a rock . What also prove the many black circles that the bad boys and girls, for example, about hell? Names determine destinies? Painted on the streets with their rear tires.
