Drew also has 40 carburetors for even more power. That would drown the engine, he says.

The conversion kit for the 350 engine costs just under $ 3,000 in the US. The racing bubbles are still on top.

Light and easy to drive. This is how Drew describes the ride on the conversion he named Hondeath. The definition of easily rides from one of the jet skit races is interesting.

Honda CL 350 custom bike: two-stroke engine with 100 hp
Honda CL 350 custom bike
Rangdangdang with 100 HP
Andrew builds a CL 350 for a buddy. Buddy then gives the CL back, he’d rather have Drew built a race jet ski. Drew takes the CL 350 and installs a two-stroke engine with 100 hp.

“Quite neat for drum brakes”, Andrew judges the unchanged series brakes on his conversion of a Honda CL 350. Besides the fork and the swing arm, the only series parts. Drew removes the rest of the Honda and takes two more cycles away from the drive concept: the wild Californian replaces the blissful 350 four-stroke twin with its 33 hp with the engine of a Yamaha Banshee quad, also with 350 cubic meters. With its 46 hp from two strokes, it stands well in the forage. But not enough for Drew.

Hobby: jet ski racing
Drew is a speed freak, works as a mechanic at Land Rover during the day and races in the evening. No matter which. Jet skis, karts, desert jeeps. He builds all of this himself and therefore the Banshee motor must not be screwed into the Honda frame untouched. The Yamaha 350 comes in direct bloodline from the legendary RD 350, so it is bulletproofed and tuning parts are available in abundance. Including a complete big-bore kit that increases the displacement to 472 cubic meters with new Wiseco pistons, cylinders, 35 mm carburetors and all the necessary parts. Together with the CPI resonance bags and a digital ignition from MSD, the engine now delivers 100 hp. ONE HUNDRED!

Lots of adjustment work
Fitting the new engine requires some welding work on the Honda frame: Drew has to completely rearrange the two loops of the frame to enclose the new engine. The CPI resonance bubbles of the exhaust must also be adapted to the new frame in this way. The adapted cooling system of a Yamaha RD 250 provides cooling water. The necessary gasoline-oil mixture is contained in an adapted tank of the Honda CB 350 Super Sport. The standard brake drum hubs are spoked into new Akront rims.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.
Better to leave it in its original condition.
Conclusion
In the end it would probably have been cheaper to tune an RD 350 and make it look like a cafe racer. Drew wouldn’t have had any fun. And the shock moment of a two-stroke Honda in retro trim would probably not have been so violent either. In addition: Anyone who builds jet skis themselves in order to race with them sees the world with different eyes anyway.
