Honda VTR 1000 F for sale.
No ABS, no regulated catalytic converter, no electronic engine management. Instead, fat 48-inch equal pressure carburettors, a choke (does anyone still vaguely remember the function of this part?) And consumption of a good ten liters if you use the throttle grip like a juicer. With a 16 liter tank (built up to 2000), the Firestorm offers a ridiculous range. Of course, this is no longer appropriate. But who cares? The Honda VTR 1000 F still burns down a sensual firestorm in its two large combustion chambers, open 110 hp and only 220 kilos are enough for ambitious country road sizzling. The brakes are good, and the chassis offers a successful compromise between a firm set-up and pleasant comfort.

From 2001 there were small improvements: larger tank, lower consumption – about six liters on normal country road travel. During its entire construction period (1997 to 2006), however, the Firestorm remained true to its character: sporty, reliable, balanced, sovereign. Virtues to compete with the Ducatis, which were very successful at the time. The Honda VTR 1000 F sold well, but never achieved cult status. Again to the high consumption: If you consider that nowadays most motorcyclists cover barely 5000 kilometers a year, as a normal driver you can neglect the additional costs compared to current sports tourers. Hardly three digits. And with the sensational low prices for this fully grown motorcycle, you can even get used to a choke again.

Rock solid. Not just the engine. The Honda is well made, and with good care and regular maintenance, mileage well over 50,000 kilometers are no problem. Basic rule: the fewer the previous owners and the more complete the service booklet, the lower the risk of being surprised. The only real weak point is consumption. Some previous owners have therefore retrofitted the carburetors with a Dynojet needle set to tune the engine leaner. Makes sense, but mostly not registered. In the case of fall marks, non-original panels, individual special paintwork and overly wild modifications, it is better to refrain from the offer, especially since such machines are difficult to sell again later. Formerly expensive retrofit accessories such as noble levers or fine-sounding silencers (Akrapovic, BOS, Remus) are popular, but hardly drive up the price of these cheap used vehicles.

Almost two thirds of the offers come from private sellers, and due to the warranty obligation, especially older machines with higher mileages over 50,000 kilometers often fall out of their purchase grid with dealers. Firestorms of this kind, which have been driven a lot, are already being offered for sale privately for 1500 euros. Neatly maintained specimens in their original condition up to year of construction 1999 with around 35,000 kilometers and a maximum of two previous owners can also be found for around 2000 euros. Highly recommended, especially since with good care the value will hardly decrease. There is a high density of offers around 2500 euros, so that there are usually no long journeys to visit, and around 3000 euros it is easy to spot Firestorms from 2001 (with a large tank) that have less than 30,000 kilometers on the clock. But the pain threshold is already 4000 euros, even for first-hand and tip-stop machines.
