Lots of music and a little talk

Not everyone wants to have a chat while riding a motorcycle. Many just want to be entertained. US provider Iasus has now developed the Rekon Bluetooth system precisely for this target group.

There should be people who do not have to constantly communicate with the pillion passenger or with motorcyclists traveling in the group, but simply want to enjoy the ride and some canned music or entertainment. A conventional helmet communication system with its extensive possibilities and operating functions is simply too much for this.

With the Rekon, Iasus relies on an absolutely reduced system that uses Bluetooth for the connection technology and a smartphone for the desired networking. The only control element is a round rotary knob that is attached to the front of the helmet. To do this, the approximately 25 mm large rotary knob is simply pushed into a glued-on holder from the side. The rotary knob is linked by cable to the central module in the helmet, which in turn is linked to the speakers.

Communication via cellular network

The Rekon helmet module is networked with the smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0. However, several Bluetooth sources can also be integrated. Anyone who wants to talk can use virtually every push-to-talk (PTT) application available for the smartphone. In theory, networks of several thousand participants can be set up in this way. For music enjoyment, Iasus relies on the latest generation of its helmet speakers, which are supposed to deliver real hi-fi sound. The central module can also be combined with almost all other helmet speakers.

Compatible with all apps

All content stored on the smartphone is of course available for enjoying music. Any streaming service can also be integrated. Navigation apps available on the smartphone can also be used. The limit is only set by the available cellular reception.

Iasus specifies the operating time as ten hours, the stand-by time is 250 hours. It is recharged via micro USB, the charging time is 2.5 hours.

The Iasus Rekon is not a really cheap offer. The basic module with rotary knob costs $ 349. Variants with speakers start at $ 399. But the knob is very finely processed. The housing is made of aluminum. A mineral glass cover makes the technology transparent and the rotary module is encased in a rubber ring with a tire profile. There is no European distribution, but Iasus ships its products worldwide.
