The season highlight of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) at the Schleizer Dreieck is here: On the IDM weekend from July 23rd to 25th, spectators are again admitted for the first time since the beginning of the corona pandemic.

They can finally make a pilgrimage to the legendary racetrack again. Wide fields, crisp curves, a makeshift pit lane, committed fans and lived emotions make the races on Germany’s only natural race track a special experience again and again.

“We got the green light from Schleiz that we can hold the event as planned. The incidence values ​​have dropped so much that no fan has to stay at home”, says series manager Normann Broy.

There were 30,000 spectators in 2019

When the IDM took place in Schleiz for the last time two years ago, almost 30,000 spectators followed the races on site. “It’s a unique atmosphere for our drivers”, so Broy who adds: “In Schleiz everything is a little different, a little nostalgic, a little crazy. But that’s what makes it so attractive. And we hope that it will be like that again in 2021.”

The IDM classes Superbike 1000, Supersport 600, Supersport 300 and Sidecar are at the start. In the premier class IDM Superbike 1000, local hero Julian Puffe, who comes directly from Schleiz, is in sixth place in the overall standings and hopes to be able to take a step forward on his home track. Micky Winkler from Schleiz wants to continue his upward trend in the IDM Supersport 300 junior class. The program is framed by the decisions in the Pro Superstock Cup, the Twin Cup and the Yamaha bLU cRU Cup.
