1st free practice (September 1st, 12:00 pm to 12:25 pm)

Team Schlosser achieved the fastest time in the sidecars in the 1st free practice session in Oschersleben. Markus Schlosser and co-driver Thomas Hofer lapped the course in 1: 32.309 and thus more than 2 seconds faster than the second-placed team AKW-Kretzer-Racing PSV Wels. On the positions follow Sattler Motorsport (1: 35.191), Team Streuer – Daalhuizen (1: 35.263) and Sidecar-Racing-Team-Rutz (1: 37.992).

2nd free practice (September 1st, 3:35 pm to 4:00 pm)

Nothing has changed in the first four positions in the second free practice. Team Schlosser was able to secure the fastest time again. However, the two Swiss could not beat the best time from the first free practice. AKW-Kretzer-Racing landed again on position 2, but undercut the time from the first session by almost 0.8 seconds.

The third-placed team Sattler Motorsport improved its time by almost 0.4 seconds and ended up in the second free practice session ahead of Team Streuer – Daalhuizen. The top 5 is completed by RSC-Racing Roscher-Burkard-Penz13 (1: 36.317).

1st qualifying (September 2nd, 10:05 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)

There was no getting past Team Schlosser in the first qualifying either. The Swiss team consisting of driver Markus Schlosser and co-driver Thomas Hofer set the fastest time in the first qualifying: 1: 31.715. Behind them, a total of three teams cracked the 1.33 mark: AKW-Kretzer Racing (1: 33.673), Team Streuer – Daalhuizen (1: 33.932) and Sattler Motorsport (1: 33.962).

2nd qualifying (2.9., 1:35 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

The Swiss sidecar team Schlosser is on pole position after the IDM qualifying in Oschersleben with a time of 1: 32.481. The Streuer team, consisting of Bernie Streuer and Gert Koerts, ranks second on the grid, 0.938 seconds behind. The first German team from Sattler Motorsport, in which Josef Sattler is the driver and Uwe Neubert as a co-driver, provides the end of the first row of the grid. The AKW-Kretzer Racing team with Andre Kretzer and Manfred Wechselberger placed fourth on the grid. The German-Austrian combination had been in second place in all previous practice sessions in Oschersleben, but could not improve in the final qualifying. 

While the majority of the sidecars with 1,000 cm³ engines are on the road, the first team with 600 cm³, the Sidecar Racing Team Rutz, is in seventh place on the grid. Carriages with 600 cm³ correspond to the current rules of the world championship, but start in the IDM Sidecar together with the 1,000 cm³ carriages. The first race of the IDM Sidecars over ten laps will take place this Saturday at 4:50 p.m. Due to the shortened race distance, the run is counted as a sprint race. As a result, the teams do not get the usual full number of points in the championship ranking. The second race on Sunday will then again cover the full distance of 16 laps and start at 4:50 p.m. (Armin Juppenlatz)

1st race (September 2nd, 5:35 pm)

The two Swiss riders Markus Schlosser and Thomas Hofer almost achieved a start-to-finish victory in the first run of the IDM Sidecar class in Oschersleben. They won the ninth of twelve races of the season with a gap of 4.038 seconds ahead of the Dutch duo Bennie Streuer / Gerard Daalhuizen. In third place, the AKW-Kretzer Racing team crossed the finish line with Andre Kretzer / Manfred “Yeti” Wechselberger.

The race was stopped after two out of ten laps due to an accident involving the SRT Racing Team and restarted after a brief interruption. Six laps still had to be completed at the time. After the restart, Bennie Streuer managed to launch a rocket. He immediately took the lead. However, Markus Schlosser was able to counter and immediately take the lead from the Dutch. For the last place on the podium, Sattler Motorsport and AKW-Kretzer Racing fought a tough battle, which the German-Austrian duo Kretzer / Wechselberger won.

The best 600 cc team in the large field of 1000 cc vehicles was the Sidecar Racing Team Rutz in eighth place. The Swiss were able to place themselves as the best 600 team in qualifying. In the championship, the Schlosser team is only two points short of winning the title. This should be done at the second run of the IDM Sidecars in Oschersleben on Sunday at 4:50 p.m. (Armin Juppenlatz)

2nd race (3.9., 4:50 p.m.)

With eight wins in nine races, the 2017 championship title in the IDM Sidecar class was actually just a formality for the Schlosser team. It took its ninth victory and thus the title in Oschersleben. The podium was completed by Streuer / Daalhuizen and AKW-Kretzer-Racing with Andre Kretzer and Manfred Wechselberger. 

After only a very short super sprint was completed in the first race of the weekend, a long race distance of 16 laps was on the agenda today. Here the Schlosser team won the start from pole position and also pulled away a bit in the first few laps. With a respectful distance, a three-way battle ensued from the Streuer, AKW-Kretzer Racing and Sattler Motorsport teams. However, the Dutch duo Streuer / Daalhuizen managed to set themselves apart from the competition very quickly. In the middle of the race, the gaps were so great that there were actually no more major fights for the top positions.

An incident with the winning duo Schlosser / Hofer then brought a lot of tension into the race. The new title holder was shot down by a competitor while lapping and spun in circles. He had to align the team again before we could continue. So for a short time Streuer / Daalhuizen took over the lead. However, it was an easy task for the Swiss who had been involved in the accident to restore the previous order. So they secured the victory and championship title with a very confident performance. However, there is still a lot going on for second place, Streuer and Kretzer are the favorites for runner-up.  

The duo from the Sidecar Racing Team Rutz took an excellent ninth place in the large field of 1000 cm³ teams with a 600 cm³ team (built according to World Cup regulations). (Armin Juppenlatz)
