1st free practice (29.9., 10.45 a.m.)

Markus Reiterberger is also driving in a different league at the final of this year’s IDM. Although he is already the champion of the IDM Superbike 1000, he is by no means slowing down at Hockenheim either. With 1: 26.897 he was more than a second ahead of Jan Buhn, who drove his S 1000 RR around the ring in 1: 27.920.

Third fastest driver was Florian Alt on a Yamaha R1M with a lap time of 1: 28.285. Behind them are the Austrian Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha, 1: 28.383), the Dutchman Danny de Boer (BMW, 1: 28.385) and the Belgian Bastien Mackels (Yamaha, 1: 28.738).

2nd free practice (29.9., 2.20 p.m.)

Markus Reiterberger’s (BMW) best time from FP1 would still have been enough for first place, but he made it even better in FP2 and was again by far the fastest driver in the field with 1: 26.663. With Florian Alt (Yamaha, 1: 27.450) and Jan Buhn (BMW, 1: 27.550) in 2nd and 3rd place, this result corresponds exactly to the current number of points in the overall standings.

4th place went to the Belgian Bastien Mackels with a Yamaha (1: 27.818), who is 11th overall. Behind them are the Austrian Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha, 1: 28.132), the Dutchman Danny De Boer (BMW, 1: 28.144) and the Czech Jan Halbich (Honda, 1: 28.284).

Places 8, 9 and 10 go to Luca Grunwald (Suzuki, 1: 28.707), Pepijn Bijsterbosch (Yamaha, 1: 28.970) and Dominik Vincon (BMW, 1: 29.989).

1st timed practice (30.9., 9.30 a.m.)

Despite the fall of the Italian racing driver Vittorio Iannuzzo and a temporary interruption in qualifying, the final result is hardly surprising: Markus Reiterberger set the fastest time on his BMW: 1: 26.591. He is followed by two Yamaha pilots: Florian Alt (1: 26.734) and Bastien Mackels (1: 27.107). BMW drivers Jan Buhn (1: 27.390) and Danny de Boer (1: 27.501) secured positions 4 and 5.

The result of the first qualifying looks like this:

1. Markus Reiterberger (BMW S 1000 RR)
2. Florian Alt (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
3. Bastien Mackels (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
4th Jan Buhn (BMW S 1000 RR)
5. Danny de Boer (BMW S 1000 RR)
6. Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
7 Jan Halbich (Honda CBR 1000 RR)
8. Dominik Vincon (BMW S 1000 RR)
9. Luca Grunwald (Suzuki GSX-R 1000)
10. Marc Neumann (BMW S 1000 RR)
11. Pepijn Bijsterbosch (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
12. Arnaud Friedrich (BMW S 1000 RR)
13. Vincent Lonbois (BMW S 1000 RR)
14. Daniel Kartheininger (Yamaha YZF-R1)
15. Lucy Glockner (Kawasaki ZX-10R)
16. Dominic Schmitter (Suzuki GSX-R 1000)
17.Marko Nekvasil (BMW S 1000 RR)
18. Janusch Prokop (Suzuki GSX-R 1000)

24. Bobby Bos (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
25. Florian Husler (Kawasaki ZX-10R)
26. Felix Bauer (Honda CBR 1000 RR)
27. Markus Ripel Jensen (Kawasaki ZX-10R)
28. Bjorn Stuppi (BMW S 1000 RR)
29. Fredrik Ommedal (Kawasaki ZX-10R)
30. Anton Ueland (BMW S 1000 RR)
31. Tiago Freitas (Kawasaki ZX-10R)

2nd timed practice (30.9., 11.30 a.m.)

In the second qualifying, BMW driver Martin Reiterberger not only drove just under a second faster than second-placed Jan Buhn (1: 26.728), but with 1: 25.773 for the first time this weekend, he also drove a time of under 1:26 minutes. Florian Alt and Bastien Mackels (both Yamaha) could not improve their times in Q1 and therefore fall behind Buhn to positions 3 and 4 on the grid. Danny de Boer (BMW, 1: 27.226) and Pepijn Bijsterbosch (Yamaha, 1: 27.429) finished 3rd and 4th in Q2, but only achieved 5th and 6th starting positions for the race.

The order for the starting grid in the race is as follows:

1. Markus Reiterberger (BMW S 1000 RR)
Jan 2nd Buhn (BMW S 1000 RR)
3. Florian Alt (Yamaha YZF-R1M)
4. Bastien Mackels (Yamaha YZF-R1M)

30. Anton Ueland (BMW S 1000 RR)
31. Tiago Freitas (Kawasaki ZX-10R)

1st race (30.9., 3:50 p.m.)

It has not happened for a long time. The three-time Superbike champion Markus Reiterberger couldn’t get past Yamaha works rider Florian Alt on the BMW for seven laps. The Bavarian watched the whole procedure for so long, but not a bit longer, before he cleared the way on the eighth of 18 laps and overtook the Gummersbacher. Reiti made up seven tenths of a second on the first free lap.

For Alt it was from the ninth lap on in second position for the runner-up. The situation was explosive. Alt came to Hockenheim with the same number of points as Jan Buhn (BMW). But Alt now had a clear advantage and was indulging in happiness, as the Dunlop tires also liked the somewhat cooler weather that came in the afternoon.

But Danny de Boer also had the slightest chance of taking the runner-up title. The Dutchman, who has been grappling with glandular fever for several weeks, was still moving like a sip of water in the bend in the pits, but mobilized all his strength again in the race and overtook one of his great opponents with teammate Jan Buhn. Before the final final on tomorrow, Sunday, the balance of power behind Meister Reiterberger is now as follows: Alt has 174 points, Buhn 165 and De Boer 157. In theory, everything speaks for Alt. In practice, the accounts are only settled at the very end.

Thanks to Bastien Mackels, Yamaha was on the podium twice after the first IDM Superbike 1000 run. For the Belgian it was the first time that he was allowed to jump up this year. Suzuki driver Dominik Schmitter was also able to take a deep breath: sixth place. This was the only time he had been so far ahead at the season opener.

2nd race (1.10., 3:50 p.m.)

Markus Reiterberger said it didn’t go so well at the weekend because his lead wasn’t as big as usual. But the goal of getting two race wins would still be achieved. The three-time IDM Superbike champion duly said goodbye with a double victory from Germany’s highest road racing series. It was definitely his last appearance.

Previously, the further placements in the championship were unclear. As in the first run, Florian Alt left no doubt who the top dog is. He made sure that not only BMW, but also Yamaha is represented at the front. The man from Gummersbach drove a sparkling clean race from start to finish and relegated Jan Buhn (BMW) to third place in the race and in the championship. The only lady in the field caused a sensation again: Kawasaki lady Lucy Glockner initially fell back to 14th place, but worked her way forward and even overtook Dominic Schmitter (Suzuki) in ninth place on the last lap. And because Jan Halbich continued to overtake the Austrian Stefan Kerschbaumer, Honda came fifth in the overall standings.
