The Indian Chieftain Elite (2018) is a new special excavator model that is rolling out in limited numbers. Each copy is painted by hand.
Already last year Indian brought a special model called C.hieftain Elite on the market. At that time, however, the US manufacturer decided on a red paint finish. At that time interested buyers were able to acquire 350 copies of the Elite. Indian has not yet given any information on the number of pieces of the 2018 variant. This year’s variant also differs fundamentally from the 2017 model in terms of color.
For the paintwork, Indian has mainly opted for a silver color tone for the Chieftain Elite. The design was based on the silver mines of the Black Hills in South Dakota. Accordingly, the manufacturer calls the paintwork “Black Hills Siver / Marble Accents”. Each copy is painted by hand in 25 hours.
Lots of features, high price
Even more extravagant features? Here you go: Among other things, there is a 200 watt sound system on board. The infotainment system called “Ride Command” has a 7-inch touchscreen display with which two-finger gestures such as “pinch-to-zoom” are possible. Also on board are a navigation system, a radio, a smartphone connection and a few other functions that provide information about the bike. The touchscreen can also be operated with gloves.

The new special model Indian Chieftain Elite is available from 34,900 euros.
The height of the windshield can be adjusted using a switch on the handlebar. The weatherproof side cases are locked and unlocked by remote control and input in the cockpit. Also on board are traction control, a keyless start system, ABS, adjustable passenger running boards and cruise control.
The engine used is the so-called Thunder Stroke 111 with 1811 cm³, which is already known from the basic model. We also know the other technical data from the “normal” Chieftain.
How many specimens there will be from the Indian Chieftain Elite is not yet known. After all, the manufacturer does mention the price: the limited special model costs from 34,900 euros (plus ancillary costs).
