Indian protects Raven, Renegade, Scout Rogue

After Raven and Renegade, now also Scout Rogue

The American motorcycle manufacturer Indian has the name “Raven”, “Renegade” and now too “Rogue” let protect. Presumably, other models are to be launched under these names.

To “Raven” and “Renegade” In 2019, patent protection for the name was granted in April 2021 “Scout rogue” registered for a motorcycle and the parts belonging to it – at the European Patent Office as well as in the USA and Australia. Such a registration does not necessarily require a new model, in the case of Indian but it would be obvious.

1,133 cc V-Twin of the Scout

The name “Scout rogue” indicates that the new model or the model variant is based on the Scout platform and snaps the liquid-cooled V-Twin with 1,133 cm³ displacement from the parts shelf. The fact that it comes with the smaller 1,000 cc version of the Scout Sixty engine cannot be completely ruled out.

The Indian Scout Rogue may turn out to be a black version of the Scout. We hope, however, that Indian surprises us with a little more variance. For example, with a more performance-oriented Scout who could come up with bonds from the Victory Octane. The Octane was, at least by US standards, a sporty motorcycle, the unfortunately discontinued brand Victory of the Indian mother Polaris.

Streetfighter derivatives of the FTR 1200

A Sout Rogue in Cafe Racer style or a Scout with street fighter ambitions is also conceivable. The latter could be used by Indian to feed those hungry and disappointed by Harley when the manufacturer announced the Bronx not to produce in series for the time being. The Streetfighter could come on the basis of the modular Indian FTR 1200, possibly even with a 750 V2, based on the Flattracker.

Indian raven

Indian has been forging expansion plans in new classes and categories since 2019. Ole Stenegard, who came from BMW, is supposed to visualize this as chief designer. In addition to the Scout Rogue, a power cruiser called a rogue would also be conceivable “Raven”.

Indian Renegade

The name of Indian was also protected by patent “Renegade”. A new model could also be planned here. Insiders speculate here about a scrambler version or an entry-level model of the FTR with a reduced-displacement V2 engine, which is also available for the “Raven” was brought into play.

Conclusion

The Indian model range is gloomy. Rogue – the villain, Renegade – the renegade, Raven – the raven. Ok, a raven isn’t actually dark, just black. Nevertheless, it is clear in which direction Indian should go in terms of brand perception. If the US manufacturer not only brings out black special models, but also provides variance – for example with a street fighter – it could continue to gain ground in terms of market share.
