A touch more performance and a new design
The Indian motorcycle manufacturer Jawa has converted its 300s to the new emissions standard for model year 2021 and given it a new outfit.

Similar to Euro 5 in Europe, the new BS6 standard in India forces all motorcycle manufacturers to adapt their models. The Mahindra daughter Jawa seizes the opportunity and provides the Forty Two with the new Jawa 42.
Mechanically unchanged, the 293 cm³, liquid-cooled single cylinder is taken over. Changes in the periphery and in the coordination ensure adaptation to the new emissions standard BS6. The power increases slightly to 27.3 hp, the maximum torque increases to 27 Nm. Shifting continues with a six-speed gearbox.
Blackened appearance
Visually, the Jawa 42 differs from the Forty Two through a new color scheme and few technical details. On the Jawa 42, for example, the exhaust system, the fork, the stereo struts as well as the complete engine and the headlight housing including the protective grille are covered in black paint. There is a small windshield above the front light. The tubular handlebar, which is also black, is equipped with hanging handlebar end mirrors. Black cast rims with white rim-edge stickers replace the chrome-plated wire-spoke wheels in the gear train. The tires are switched to tubeless.

The redesign is rounded off by bold 42-series start numbers on the side covers and a gray double longitudinal stripe over the tank and rear fender.
The new Jawa 42 is available in the basic colors black, white and red. In India it costs the equivalent of around 2,100 euros.
Conclusion
In the highly competitive Indian market, Jawa relies on tried-and-tested technology with a more modern look with the 42. With the conversion to the current emissions standard, the single-cylinder was even able to increase its performance slightly.
