New chassis and more electronics

The 2021 season has only just begun, and KTM – like sister Husqvarna – is already introducing the new 2022 motocross models.

With three revised two- and four-stroke machines between 125 and 450 cubic meters each KTM the model year 2022. The four-stroke engines in particular benefit from new electronics and new chassis.

More CP for everyone

A revised chassis from WP runs through all displacements and drive variants of the 2022 KTM Crosser. Here, KTM attached importance to a more appealing set-up and also worked on the oil flow in order to keep the feedback of the suspension elements more constant. The new chassis are complemented by new MaxxEnduro tires from Maxxis. The 4-stroke engines have also been tuned a little tighter to improve performance at higher speeds.

4-stroke

The 4-stroke portfolio of generation 2022 consists of three models with 250, 350 and 450 cubic meters. In addition to the new chassis, all have been improved in the form of upgraded electronics with traction control, launch control, adjustable engine mappings and more reliable electric starter systems. The top model is clearly the KTM 450 SX-F, which generates 63 hp from a cylinder, which weighs just over 100 kilograms. Price for the top sport model: 10,699 euros plus additional costs. Among them is the 350 SX-F with 58 hp at 13,400 rpm for 10,399 euros, followed by the 250 version of the SX-F from KTM for 10,099 euros. KTM is silent about the performance of the KTM 250 SX-F, but gives the weight of the engine as 25.4 kilograms and that of the motorcycle as 99 kilograms.

2-stroke

The series of two-stroke machines stretches from 125 to 150 to 250 cubic meters and in terms of overall face from 87.5 for the 125 cc and 150 cc to 95.5 kilograms for the 250 cc machine. In terms of weight, a clear difference to the models with valves in the cylinder head. In terms of price, however, quite close. While the KTM 125 SX is still behind at 8,649 euros, the 150 version clearly closes the gap at 9,249 euros, only topped by the KTM 250 SX, which takes its place in the performance course with 9,499 “Motocross” thick underlines. In addition, the 250 got a shorter final gear ratio of 13:52 for more traction and better maneuverability in technically demanding sections.

Small 2-stroke

At the bottom, the minibike versions with 50, 65 and 85 cubic meters complete the line-up of two-stroke crossers from KTM in model year 2022. Prices start here at 4,099 for the 50s and go up to over 5,099 euros for the 65 version 6,199 euros for the 85 SX with 17-inch front and 14-inch rear tires. The variant of the 85 SX in 19 inches at the front and 16 inches at the rear also costs 6,199 euros

Conclusion

KTM is bringing the 2022 crosser generation to the four-stroke line with new chassis and electronics.
