Lego has had a miniature Ducati Panigale V4 in its range since the beginning of June 2020. Now the Danish toy manufacturer has presented a superbike in a 1: 1 scale together with Ducati.

The new model is for promotional purposes only and will not be available as a kit. The big Lego Ducati was created in collaboration with Ducati and the Italian designer Riccardo Zangelmi. He invested more than 400 hours of work in the Lego model, in which he put together over 15,000 individual parts – yes, “stuck”, because nothing on the model was glued.

Factory racing drivers are also enthusiastic

Ok, the 1: 1 model of the Panigale V4 is not a pure Lego model. The basis is a real Panigale V4. But Zangelmi knitted a Lego disguise around it. In addition to Paolo Lazzarin, General Manager of Lego Italy, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali and sports director Paolo Ciabatti, MotoGP factory driver Andrea Dovizioso was present at the presentation on the Modena circuit.

The latter was enthusiastic about the 1: 1 model, as he liked to play with Lego as a child. Zangelmi described the Ducati as the most demanding work of art that he built from building blocks.

He needed a total of eight attempts before the Lego Ducati finally looked the way it is now. The biggest challenges were the curves around the tank and the overall stability of the Lego construction. His next dream: build such a model again, but then fully functional.
