Mofa race Stuttgart 2019
Stuttgart Moped Race 2019
“I can use natural dust!”
At the Mofarennen Stuttgart 2019 it was hot again – also because of the temperatures and the races, but mainly because of the great fun for spectators, drivers and teams.

Current information in advance: The Mofa race 2020 was canceled due to the corona, the date for 2021 is: June 26, 2021.
“This is not fine dust, it is the finest natural dust” it echoes over the loudspeakers through the Krummbachtal near Stuttgart. Accompanied by a two-cycle soundscape, on June 29, 2019, a damn hot Saturday, rattling mopeds will be here for the fifth time. The setting: a marked course with chicanes, a ramp and lots of bales of straw. It’s about nothing less than fame, honor and trophies. But mostly about being there. Maybe a barrel of Stuttgarter Hofbrau too.
The fights are in three classes: Original, Tuning-Lite and Racing. To ensure that everything is correct, the motorcycles – or bolides, as they are affectionately known in the community – are first pushed onto the dynamometer. This is where it is decided whether the individual vehicles were registered in the correct class. The large number of spectators quickly fill the few places in the shade.
In qualifying, the best lap time decides on the starting position. For inexperienced moped pilots there is a first foretaste, because for a few drivers the qualification is the first moped ride. In the race, each team drives two times for 45 minutes – once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The team with the most laps wins in the end. Quick driver changes, a determined driving style and, above all, a reliable moped count here. A lack of performance is compensated for: through wild pedaling, through costumes, through madness. And despite all the ambition, the mood remains exuberant. Only a few moped pilots actually extend their elbows, duels are held fairly.
Injuries do still occur, mostly a combination of shorts and contact with opposing pedals. Fortunately, the rescue workers do not have to worry about serious injuries. In the paddock, too, the spirit of sport prevails, tools are given out, tips are given and people talk shop. Most are not here for the first time. During the breaks, people and machines are prepared for the next run, with cool drinks, a snack and an invigorating 1:50 mixture for the bolides.

Team MOTORRAD started in the original class and took 9th place.
The second round is even more serious, but the heat and constant stress take their toll. Some mopeds can only start late, others fail during the race. In the original class, the team was able to “The Muggaseggl” Defending the title with 231 laps, winning the Tuning-Lite class “The bad guys” with 251 laps. The racing class, which was thinned out a bit this year, was won by the team “Plan B”. dominates. Obviously everyone involved had fun.
Conclusion
Whether as a driver or spectator, as a marshal or innkeeper – everyone has a lot of fun at the Stuttgart moped races. Beaming faces far and wide – albeit sometimes quite dusty. The event is for the whole family. Motorsport for everyone, so to speak. And anyone who wants to ride is very welcome, the financial commitment is manageable.
