Modern four-valve technology, but at Guzzi one remains true to principle: traditional 90-degree V2 with air cooling. The powerful engine weighs 63.8 kilos.

Exemplary: the Brembo brake system decelerates strongly, easily and fade-free at supersport level. Since 2009 with sensible ABS in the program.

Despite the cardan, the load change reactions are limited. When it comes to maintaining the spoked wheels, the shaft drive is considered a very clean affair.

Second-hand advice Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200
Imposing maxi enduro
Big and powerful – the appearance of the Italian maxi-enduro is impressive. This appeals to those interested who want to stand out from the crowd. The great thing about the apparently clumsy Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200: It has amazing riding qualities.

Does anyone remember the Moto Guzzi V 65 TT from the 1980s? No? Never mind, it was already exotic back then. The even more present quota from the nineties is hardly on the screen, except for hardcore Guzzisti. What both models have in common: On loose ground, they behave more like agricultural machines than enduros. The Moto Guzzi introduced in 2008 Stelvio 1200 also has an elephant-like appearance, but as a “Maxi-Enduro” the 270-kilo chunk can be moved comparatively light-footed – but also more on country roads than seriously off-road.

But it has been more consistent than ever before Moto Guzzi The topic of travel enduro has been accepted and the adjustable driver’s seat and windshield as well as integrated pannier racks have been thought of. The high-torque four-valve V2 with 105 hp is very entertaining, and the well-stepped six-speed gearbox makes it easy to shift. the Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 offers tourists sitting upright enough space for passengers and luggage. And, more importantly, lots of driving pleasure and good sound. This makes the Italo bike stand out from the mainstream from Bavaria and Japan. ABS has been on board since 2009 (in Germany). The NTX model (since 2009) offers fog lights, protective bars and aluminum cases – and the appearance of a martial agricultural machine. That you won’t forget so quickly.
sightseeing
The V2 engine is considered to be steadfast, and specialist workshops also rate the transmission as reliable. The workmanship of the motorcycle is good overall, so with regular maintenance and care, nothing stands in the way of a long life with high mileage. An inspection is due every 10,000 kilometers, which should also be carried out at a specialist workshop if possible (around 300 euros). The more complex 40,000 inspection quickly costs 500 euros. Guzzi often instructs technical improvement measures.
On many Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 chafing points on the wiring harness have already been fixed or the main stand and leaky housing replaced. Caution is advised with privately maintained machines or imported used machines if no workshop documentation is available. Luggage sets are popular as accessories, the melodious original exhaust is rarely replaced by retrofit products.
Market situation
Adventurer model NTX with protective bars and cases.
The Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 is a popular motorcycle – but probably only from Guzzi dealers with loyal customers. Then they are also searched for as used ones, and good prices are paid. Non-brand dealers refer to the Maxi-Enduro as “special”. Nice paraphrase for “difficult to sell”. In the case of price requests over 10,000 euros, interested parties find it difficult to say yes, because unused daily registrations (new price: over 14,000 euros) and new bikes including accessories can be found for 11,500 euros.
Good offers can be found between 7,500 and 9,000 euros. Example: three years old, first hand, around 20,000 kilometers, neatly cared for, suitcase. Only a few offers for less than 7,000 euros can be found, most likely from private parties. Long journeys to the tour are preprogrammed. 2008 models and used imports without ABS only go through the price: at least 1000 euros less than ABS models comparable in year of construction and mileage.
