Tour 1 runs from Oberstaufen via Sulzberg to Schreckenmanklitz.
Tour 1 runs from Oberstaufen via Sulzberg to Schreckenmanklitz. It is 30 kilometers long, its maximum height is 1043 meters, the maximum gradient is 25 percent. From Oberstaufen-Weibach it goes on an old hill climb to Steibis. Turn right there and over Schindelberg and Hagspiel to Aach, along the way there are lush serpentines and lovely scenery. In Aach first left across the Austrian border and then right to Sulzberg to the Gasthof Alpenblick motorcycle meeting point. Continue via Hinterschweinhof to Weiler, turn left into Hauptstrasse and then right after the solarium onto Lindenbergstrasse. Now please don’t be alarmed: A sign for the route to Schreckenmanklitz promises a 25 percent gradient. These are percentages that are fun. No wonder that this tour takes first place in our Allgau route ranking with 37 out of 50 points.

Tour 2 measures 46 kilometers, overcomes hills 757 meters high and gradients of four percent.
Tour 2 measures 46 kilometers, overcomes hills 757 meters high and gradients of four percent. It leads from Wangen via Kiblegg and Seibranz to Aichstetten. In Wangen we turn north from the B 32 to Beutelsau. Pure luck reigns over the next 40 kilometers: clear, easy-grip curves, wide fields and meadows, little traffic. What does it matter that real mountains are missing? It continues over Allehaben, Schurtannen, Zaisenhofen, Reipertshofen, Rotsee, Diepoldshofen, Bauhofen, Seibranz, Nestbaum, Treherz and Aichstetten. This ingenious curve tour deserves second place with 36 out of 50 points.

Tour 3 is only 14 kilometers long, but it’s tough.
Tour 3 is only 14 kilometers long, but it’s tough: from the Niedersonthofener See to Diepolz to the Grober Alpsee, the route overcomes gradients of 15 percent and a high point of 1026 meters. From the lake it goes to Niedersonthofen. At the church there, follow the signs to Diepolz and immediately wind your way up in rapid serpentines. At the Bergbauernmuseum Diepolz, which is well worth seeing, turn left towards Knottenried, then with a great panoramic view of Nebelhorn and Co. fly through crisp combinations of curves towards Immenstadt to the Grober Alpsee. As a reward, drive to the beach promenade in Buhl on the east bank, be sure to linger here or take the historic Alpsee sailor “Santa Maria Loreto” just like the swans glide across the water. The largest natural lake in the Allgau lures with secret bathing areas and a great beach cafe. A worthy end to this tour, which secured third place with 34 points.

The route from Wertach over the Rottachsee and Moosbach to Untergassen.
Tour 4
The route from Wertach via the Rottachsee and Moosbach to Untergassen is a dear friend to those who know the place. Your data: 18 kilometers in length, 1113 meters in height, 15 percent gradient. Past the parish church of St. Ulrich in Wertach, first to Oberelleg. The road is a narrow band that winds through the meadows like a blindworm. At a chapel, pause on a bench, then follow the Bitterlis sign, follow Batzers to the right and on a serpentine slope over Acker and Vorderburg to Moosbach am Rottachstausee (swimming!) And on to Untergassen. Fourth place with 33 points.

Germany’s highest pass road: the Riedbergpass.
Tour 5
Now comes Germany’s highest pass road, the Riedberg Pass. 15 kilometers long, high point at 1420 meters, maximum gradient 16 percent. The start is in Obermaiselstein, and on the next five kilometers to the top of the pass the horizon folds away in quick succession, sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right. Downhill to Balderschwang then a similar picture, only that there is a new road surface and crash barriers with underrun protection. Refreshments: Grasgehrenhutte, Bikerstadl Schwabenhof. Third, the Bodenseehutte with its motorcycle celebrity density. An experience, good for fifth place and 32 points out of 50.

From Blaichach to the Scheidewangalpe.
Tour 6
From Blaichach to the Scheidewangalpe, this 14-kilometer tour gem leads over 1318 meters and a 19 percent gradient. First it goes to Gunzesried. There in a sharp left past the Jagerhausle to Gunzesried-Sage. Feed a pay machine here with four euros per nose and continue to the right in the direction of Scheidewangalpe (left goes to Hollritzeralpe, which costs extra). The great route through the Aubachtal is also popular with cyclists. Suddenly two steep and narrow hairpin bends in the forest before the motorbikes finally roll out next to a few ponies on the Scheidewangalpe. The tour receives sixth place and 31 points.

From Oberstaufen to Niederstaufen.
Tour 7
From Oberstaufen to Niederstaufen, this tour leads 32 kilometers along the German Alpine Road. It goes over 908 meters with a maximum gradient of seven percent always along the B 308. Therefore, the route is not an insider tip, but swings in nice wide arcs up to the “paradise”. As a seductively fast 120-degree bend (moss curve), the road nestles in an idyllic landscape and finally plunges daringly through a twisted forest passage downhill to Nieder-staufen. Worth seeing: the hat museum in Lindenberg and the reptile zoo in Scheidegg. Seventh place and 29th out of 50 points.

Only ten kilometers long, but an old hill climb track.
Tour 8
The Oberjoch Pass is only ten kilometers long, but an old mountain race track. It leads over 1178 meters and climbs a maximum of six percent. The route continues to inspire. Nine serpentines spice up Germany’s highest federal highway, the B 308, which winds its way up from Bad Hindelang to the village of Oberjoch. There it goes behind a large parking lot (kiosk “Motorcycle meeting”) right to the actual pass summit shortly before the Austrian border – and possibly further to the Tannheimer Tal. As attractive as the track is, it has one catch: no overtaking. So it’s best to start early in the morning. 28 counters and eighth place.

Kempten-Buchenberg-Kempten.
Tour 9
Kempten-Buchenberg-Kempten. With 41 kilometers, a 1049 meter high point and a maximum gradient of six percent, the ideal after-work lap – even for nudists. Of the “Allgau metropolis” Kempten climbs the Buchenberg road in a few sweeping moves. There direction Kreuzthal-Eisenbach and in relaxed cruising mode through intact forests and meadows. There is actually a separate nudist area at the Esch-acher Weiher. In Schmidsfelsen turn right to Unter- and Oberkurnach, then six kilometers of bends. Shortly before Ahegg, turn right again towards Buchenberg, then the last bend of curves to Kempten. 27 points result in ninth place.

Tour to the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.
Tour 10
Royal castles. Length 30 kilometers, height 832 meters, maximum gradient three percent, special features: tourist magnet. Even if she ends up in last place with 24 points, what would a tour through the Allgau be without the round to the two magnificent royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau? You are at the starting point of the Romantic Road, a few kilometers south of Fussen in front of a magnificent Alpine backdrop. Anyone who has the pictures in the box and also suffers from bus phobia or Asian allergies should soon turn the corner and flee to the shores of Hopfen- or Forgensee. Greetings from King Ludwig II.
