Luxury variant
The MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 gets the Lusso variant ("luxury") a well-functioning semi-active chassis and, as a bonus, an app for its very individual setting.
Lusso, meaning luxury, is called M.V Agusta launched its upgrade version of the Turismo Veloce 800. That sounds promising, but also expensive, which a glance at the price tag confirms: the new one costs 16,890 euros, almost 2000 euros more than the basic version. This debuted a few months ago and is considered by MV connoisseurs to be the most intuitive and best drivable model in the house. Because the classy 800 with the lively three-cylinder engine combines sporty and touristic properties with good everyday practicality and on top of that shines with very decent equipment. In addition to a multi-adjustable traction control and different driving modes, it even includes an automatic switch for clutch-free switching as well as LED light, TFT display, cruise control and Bluetooth.

Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso now also attracts with three-stage adjustable heated grips, a stiff main stand and an integrated GPS sensor, but above all with the manufacturer’s first semi-active chassis. A chassis that adapts to the road and driving conditions and should automatically provide the most perfect possible coordination of fork and shock absorber, whether you are going uphill on bumpy mountain roads at a dedicated gallop or at a leisurely trot over the finest surface. Many motorcycle manufacturers, from Aprilia to BMW and Ducati to KTM and Yamaha, are already using this sensor and computer-controlled technology for their flagships.
More stable, more precise and less nervous
MV Agusta is now following suit and apparently wants to prove right away how well the new feature of the house works: The trial route to try out is demanding, it leads from the factory in Varese over winding paths to Lake Maggiore and there up to the Mottarone Pass. With jagged frost faults, thick potholes, rough bumps and wide cracks, it really pulls out all the stops for conceivable asphalt damage, and the play of light and shadow in autumn on the forest passages and damp leaves on the road further increase the level of difficulty. Full concentration is required – and of course the semi-active chassis of the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso, which masters these challenges really well by further opening the damping on the bumpy surface of the Mottarone and closing the front compression a little when braking to allow for too deep immersion to prevent the fork. It’s nice when you can focus on the essentials, namely driving and cornering, and rely on the chassis.
The light-footed handiness, which already makes the basic model fall into a sloping position by itself, has remained, but in comparison the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso appears more stable, more precise and less nervous. This is particularly noticeable when things get down to business and they are allowed to run in sport mode. As with other manufacturers, the responsiveness of the chassis is linked to the driving modes. In the sport mode of the MV, that means: full power, i.e. 110 hp, jagged throttle response, late traction control and now a suitably tuned, very stiff chassis that quickly and hard ironed over the bumps. The chassis is more comfortable and back-friendly in touring mode with 90 hp, it works more gently, but still resolutely.

An MV specialty is the custom mode, in which the driver can mix his favorite mix of all driving modes, from the response of the engine to the engine brake and many other settings up to traction control. Added to this are personal preferences in terms of chassis, and MV Agusta has created its own app for this. The compression and rebound levels can be varied at the touch of a finger on the tablet. In addition, similar to what Aprilia offers for the Caponord, you can call up data on the route driven, from the opening of the throttle valve to the inclined position – the GPS sensor integrated in the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso makes it possible.

However, the semi-active system of the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso has a loophole: Although the load status of the motorcycle can be set via the display, from solo operation to two people with luggage, it does not affect the spring preload: you have to increase it Set as before using the handwheel. Part of the luxury of the Lusso falls by the wayside.
